Can I add an EV charger for a PHEV to this CU

Hi, I don't plan on getting a full EV, but do have plans to get a PHEV with a 33kwh battery, which using a 7kw charger would be enough to have the battery charged overnight everyday. I won't be fitting it myself but wanted to check if it was feasible to add a dedicated circuit to power a 7kw ev...

    Help with water softener outlet

Thank you for the detailed reply, but I just need to know how to join the two connections together. It is the brine waste outlet and there is no recommendation to fit a tundish from the manufacturer. If it overflows, then the overflow outlet will dump the water and as long as there's no leak...

    Help with water softener outlet

Hi, Hopefully a fairly straightforward question. I'd really appreciate some advice on the best way to connect the waste outlet from my water softener (as pictured) to the pvc pipe my kitchen fitter installed for me. I want to make the connected demountable if I ever need to change my softener...

How best to drain this tiled area outside

The downpipe needs to have the drain changed slightly right? Also would it be a good idea to add another drain under the tap and connect them to each other?

How best to drain this tiled area outside

Hi all, I'm having the area in the photos tiled with porcelain tiles. Previously it was gravel and and would drain into the soil underneath. However, I'm wondering if there needs to be a drain put under the outside tap that then connects with the drain that the downpipe connects to? Also how...

Thank you folks, I'll go with a 13a FCU :) Much appreciated!

Can I put 3 conductors into the load of a DP switch?

In the past I got advice from the forum that a 20a DP switch would suitable to safely isolate external lights as the circuit is protected by an RCD at the CU. Would this negate the need for an 13a FCU? If not, I can fit that instead.

Can I put 3 conductors into the load of a DP switch?

Thanks Andy. I'll have a go and see how I get on. I'll also consider dropping down to 1.5mm2 as you're 100% right.

Can I put 3 conductors into the load of a DP switch?

No, 2.5mm T&E for each conductor as this sits inside my garage. Two clusters are fence mounted so I'll be using .75mm flex to loop in and out. The 3rd cluster is in flower beds, so one 2.5mm T&E will connect to a weatherproof jb mounted on an exterior wall, from which an SWA cable will be buried...

Can I put 3 conductors into the load of a DP switch?

yes, it's RCD protected at the CU.

Can I put 3 conductors into the load of a DP switch?

Hi, I have a dedicated garden lighting circuit in my house and I am adding 3 new lighting clusters (35w lights, with 5 or 10w GU10 bulbs, total of 18 across 3 clusters). I would like to power all three clusters from single 20A DP switch so I can isolate these clusters in the case of faults (1...

    Cable sizing for outdoor spotlight

Based on this, a .75mm2 cable should also do the job right seeing as it's rated for 6amps which is considerably oversized already?

    Cable sizing for outdoor spotlight

Yes, sorry that is the rating of the light fitting. I'll probably put 5 or 10w bulbs in them.

    Cable sizing for outdoor spotlight

These will have LED bulbs but I'm not a huge fan of LED Strips

    Cable sizing for outdoor spotlight

Hi, I'd really appreciate some advice on the right type of cable to wire in 6x 35w GU10 spotlights that will be mounted onto a wooden fence. I already have a dedicated garden lighting circuit and will run the connection via a 20A DP switch. Ideally I'd like the thinnest cable possible as I need...

Help me identify my DPC please

Hi all, Could you please help me find my DPC from these two pictures? I can see a little bit of plastic membrane jutting out in one of the photos but I also want to be 100% certain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Is this timber pressure treated?

Thanks, in my case I'm only referring to the joists as they seem to be untreated. The boards are bangkirai which has excellent wet and rot resistance capabilities

    Is this timber pressure treated?

In my case it sits under hardwood deck boards that have 5mm gap, so very little exposure to the joists and absolutely no contact with the ground or organic material as the joists sit on pavers that were then covered with plastic membrane to sit between the joist and paver. I'm wondering though...

    Is this timber pressure treated?

Hi, my builder has used this timber for the floating deck frame that sits on paving stones (no prolonged ground contact). However I couldn't see any treatment markings and I'm having doubts now. Can anyone advise please?
