Should this soil pipe have a durgo valve on top?

Thanks, it is a plug as I managed to pull it out. This soil stack is the lowest and only has this toilet and basin feeding in into it. My other soil stacks have durgos and terminate into the loft. Any advice on what I can use to plug the toilet pipe with as shown in the second photo?

Should this soil pipe have a durgo valve on top?

Hi all, I am about to redo a cloakroom WC and discovered this small soil stack that the toilet and sink waste drains into. It looks like it has concrete on the top and I wanted to ask if this was normal? Should I be fitting a durgo valve on top? It's going to be permanently boxed in for a wall...

Hi, I have my washing machine draining to a pvc pipe that subsequently drains into a soil stack. All works well, however I'm looking to see if theres a way for me to put a more secure fitting on the top to connect my washing machine drain hose to? So that's it's not just resting inside the...

Sewage smell coming shower drain - tried water, vinegar, baking soda, duzz it drain away

Thanks Brian. I am assuming the AAV is fitted to the top of the soil stack right commonly known as a Durgo valve? My soil stacks terminate in my loft. Would your recommendation still apply here?

Sewage smell coming shower drain - tried water, vinegar, baking soda, duzz it drain away

Hi, My shower drain has been smelling for about a week. It happens periodically as its an en-suite shower and not always used and we normally sort it by running some water through it as we understand the trap may have dried out. However this time I have run water through it for 5 minutes, tried...

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

Thank you. Coincidentally that's the same glue I just went and bought. The last bit that I'm not quite sure of, is the mention of drilling at an 'angle'? My understanding was that I'd be drilling through the tread and into the top of the riser, where the tread is rebated to accept the riser.

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

Thank you for the advice. Is there a technique to apply PU Glue from above rather than below? I can only really access the top 4 steps from below. Given the feedback, I'm happy to give the PU Glue a go as well

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

I appreciate the feedback but there was no other way this could have been done and I did pilot each screw and have countersunk also. From the looks of it, it's improved our situation by 80%. Time will tell if it's short lived or not.

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

Hi all, Thank you for the help. After much contemplation, I settled on the following approach. I measured the thickness of each riser and then screwer the tread and risers together firstly from above, making sure that I was in the middle of the riser at all times. I then drilled diagonal holes...

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

    1. No 2. All wedges present, but I haven't tapped them in any further, as they look glued in from when the house was constructed, but I suspect they need to be tapped in further as the wood may have shrunk since installation 3. Yep, 3 per step

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

I believe it's the tread rubbing against the riser

Noisy stairs are killing us :(

Hi all, Can anyone advise how I can fix my noisy stairs without replacing the whole lot? I have access to the underside (as shown in the photo). I also saw a video where a guy screwed in block of timber into the risers and then tapped in wedges to support the treads. Would this work or anything...

How to remove sink waste from soil stack boss

Yep, it's a snug fit. Would something like no nails work? I've got plenty of that lying around. Thank you again, I sincerely appreciate your advice and prompt replies.

How to remove sink waste from soil stack boss

Thanks again. I had a go with a plug. Just wanted to check this is what you meant before I apply silicone adhesive (i.e. sanitary sealant?)

How to remove sink waste from soil stack boss

Thank you. I've managed to get the waste pipe off, but the light grey ring isn't coming off and is just turning freely. I assume that I can just push fit the plug you mentioned straight into the light grey ring and put some solvent weld on for good measure?
