    If you can get a new spring replacing it should not be too difficult as it will not be under much tension with the lid open. As has been said it will probably be cheaper to buy a new kettle than pay someone to repair it.

    If your involved in a no fault accident then you are entitled to pursue rthe other drivers insurance, drunk or not. Just don't involve your own insurer. Although you should notify them if you act on your own behalf drunk or sober doesn't matter. It won't affect your NCB either.

    If you are talking about plastic ones I always thought it was a colour code. Green for petrol. Black for diesel. But I think both are only intended for emergency use not storage.

    Yes your wiring looks to be ok but can't tell which switch is going to be actuated by the key cam. If it is the wrong way round when you re-assemble the key assy. just swop the switches over

    Not a builder or surveyor or structural angineer but I wouldn't be concerned if that is all there is. Might rub some silicon in to keep moisture out and the probably check uit again in 12 months time. You may well get different advice off more experienced builders so keep an eye on your post

    One maybe a thermostat and the other a non-resetable cut out. You say you are getting a reading across both which should mean they are ok, but it would appear that you get new ones with the new element.

    Is the stable door bottom half made of T & G and is it one of the slats that has rotted or is it the frame that goes in the rebate. Pics could help. You can get sheet hardwood plywood if that is what you are thinking of covering it with.
