If you're hard wiring, the connection is permanent. There is no plug and no socket. Maybe it's a safety feature, to avoid any water getting in the electrical socket?

I think "hard wiring" means wiring directly into a fused switch unit, rather than the conventional way of wiring to a plug and inserting the plug into a wall socket. But using a plug should be fine AFAIK.

Turned pump up from 1 to 2. No joy. Listening to the pump via a screwdriver, the pump sounds to be turning. Must be an air block. No rads at all are working. So this can't be fixed by bleeding a rad, can it?
