    Shelf

Oh yeah! OK back to the drawing board lol Although shelf load will be negligible just a few decorative items (glass)

    Shelf

I was thinking maybe a bracket mid span on top. The bottom is not possible as shelf will be running along top of window opening. Might need to look at some planed 50mm timber. My Corbels are 300mm high x 200mm projection x 94mm wide. The Sagulator says 25mm MDF on that span and depth ACCEPTABLE

    Shelf

I am looking to make a shelf to span a 2.4m window supported each side on wooden Corbels. Shelf will be 20 cm wide. Would 25mm mdf be rigid enough or would i need something thicker.

    Primers

I spoke with Ardex tech guy to see if either could be used, he said if going down on a sand/cement screed don't prime just hoover well to remove dust, but no primer needed? Is that a good idea? Looks like the Bal is acrylic the ardex is water based.

    Primers

Looking at adhesives I was opting for bal Single part Flexible with bal apd primer. Now tempted at getting Ardex X7 tech spec looks same as Bal but cheaper , so question is would the Ardex P51 be the equiv of the bal apd? To put down on sand/cement screed

    Porcelain or Ceramic?

Personally I use Porcelain on floors as harder wearing and ceramic on walls as they never get foot traffic so not likely to wear. Get a good drill though and drill on slow speed you can cut porcelain ok

    Socket orientation

Very true, although I have quite a few cables in this trunking, room to breath. Oh well maybe next time

    Socket orientation

Yes singles £15 a length of 100 x 50 appeared good value, cheap enough and prevented me having to have cables buried in a wall, I utilised the void behind kitchen units

    Socket orientation

So maybe at 90 deg it would allow easier access to terminals and allow the flex cables with plugs to fit nicely. Thanks John

    Socket orientation

It makes more sense for me really as cables from appliances will be coming down from above.

    Socket orientation

I want to have sockets for appliances mounted in a dado type trunking but on the floor behind kitchen units ( fits the void better than the 3 compartment skirting trunking). The only issue is it is too tight to actually plug something in with sockets the ( normal way up), flex too tight. Can...

    Kitchen downlights

Can't say i have ever had that issue with light from downlights, the last house i changed all the daylight bulbs for warm white as the kitchen was far to light. Personally i would not fit a fitting where the led bulb was not replaceable as the 40000 hour stuff is just nonsense. My wife can...

    Kitchen downlights

I guess it depends on what you want to achieve. I want feature "proper" lights on my Island therefore want downlights to be non feature and blend into ceiling giving light but not taking away what i want from my feature lighting. Downlights can be pointed where you want them or these days get...
