Security solution for side gates... any ideas?

Thanks SFK. I think resettable is the search term I was missing. I kept searching for changable. Those options are good but a little bit more than I wanted to pay as I know the technology behind these is cheap. I have bought some for just under £2 each that said in the instructions they can be...

Security solution for side gates... any ideas?

I have 3 metal side gates down the side of an outbuilding. I need to lock these but without a key. So I was thinking a bike combination lock but all the ones I have viewed on ebay seem to be set codes and cant be changed. Anyone know some that are changable? I have already bought 6 bike locks...

Is there a height limit/building regs requirements for a detached garage?

I thought the PD rules state 2.5m high on flat roof and 4m high on a pitched roof if more than 2metres from a boundary?

    Planning permission for shipping containers?

Hi all, Im thinking of putting 1 or 2 shipping containers in a small field for use as storage. Do I need planning for this? I would choose green ones as to not annoy the locals. Also what kind of footings/foundation do these need? Should I put them on beams so they have airflow underneath? Any...

Where to buy rat bait? Difenacoum

We have a few chickens and get a few rats now and then. I would like to curb this black plague by getting some rat bait but have noticed the laws have changed. Does anyone know where I can get it now? I do have a CPH number if that can help me buy some. I was getting a bait called raco off ebay...

Dulux trade supermatt dried very patchy

The other thing I just thought is maybe grease on the walls made the finish come out patchy. Did you clean and sand the walls prior to painting? Maybe give that a try... sand then clean or clean sand then clean again.

All I can think is it wasnt mixed properly or enough passes with the roller made. Someone else might have some other suggestions though.

Bathroom wall to stairway partition very thin?

Thanks for your reply Ken. It seems it could be on of those. I was going to run a stud detector over it and see how many pings I get which might give away a bit about how its made. I measured it last evening and it was 6cms wide

Bathroom wall to stairway partition very thin?

Weve bought a new house, a barrett box built in 1987 or so. My concern is the thickness of the bathroom wall partition. It is at most 4cms thick. The whole bathroom wall is tiled on this 4cm thick partition wall. Is this anything to be concerned about? Other side of the wall is the stairs. I...

    My neighbours wonky shed...

Haha yep I know its unlikely. Im just trying to think of health and safety reasons to get the council on my side. If I say my neighbours nicked a bit of land by pushing my fence over they wont do sod all. I did find a third of a broken tile on my side of the fence but cant see the other part...

    My neighbours wonky shed...

Yep im considering putting some posts into the ground so it cant be pushed further then using those posts to add a gutter like you say and an overhang made of fluted polycarb sheet. I just cant see how he thought this was an acceptable build unless he was playing a game with the previous owner...

    My neighbours wonky shed...

Yep it does have a gravel trench underneath the fence so if its his fence its not so bad from a drainage perspective. I might put up a overhand down the side of the house and butt it upto his roof. You can see from the pics there is a wall plate on the wall from where a shelter used to be.

    My neighbours wonky shed...

Ive recently bought a house and noticed my unneighbourly neighbour appears to have pushed the fence a little in order to get the roofing straight on his shed/outbuilding. Ive got to have a look at the deeds to see who owns the fence but lets just assume he does for now. I guess as its built of...

How to refit a flashing strip, restricted access

Heres some pics of the situation. Seems its already cracked so I doubt would take my weight even if I duckboarded it. If I do get up there i'll prop the underneath as Woody suggested. Seems by repairing the old flashing strip by hanging out the upstairs bedroom window seems to have stopped the...
