    Fibreglass insulation

That would be a con. You want 300mm to match current standard.

    Roof felt

The felt is only a secondary layer: insurance really. Many old houses had none and had healthier roofs as a result because they could breathe, Traditional felt was bitumen based and that's what you can see with what looks like breathable membrane (what we now use) over the top. So yes it's...

Two part question : Has anybody used a decking kit and are they worth it? / Is decking a good idea in this area.

I'd have thought 2 big bags of sharp sand and 10 bags of dust. Blue circle was £8.50/bag at B+Q yesterday and bulk bags £78 and £30 home delivery. So your £390 is a bit strong and a proper local merchant would probably be cheaper.

Two part question : Has anybody used a decking kit and are they worth it? / Is decking a good idea in this area.

Not quite answering your question but wouldn't the cheapest option be to use what you've got and redo the patio in crazy paving. Takes time to get it good, but you have that. You'd just need sand and cement: an existing patio is likely to be pretty stable underneath so I'd not get too stressed...

    Tile Adhesive

I think you just have to be a bit patient: ready mixed dries out to set and the substrate is less porous than a plastered wall. Fo good or ill I've over tiled many times, in fact 1 wall of our last bathroom (40 years residency) had 4 layers. In my defence it was a pretty thin wall and the...

    Joining an RSJ.

The chances of the beam being continuous is small but the chances of it being man enough to then span double the distance is infinitesimal. If the span doubles the beam stiffness needs to increase by a factor of 16 to carry the same loads. Personally I wonder why peeps get so vexed about flat...

Cleva Lawnmaster collection box flap conundrum !!!

Is it not just a case of lifting the box at the back so the flap can go down over the black nib forward of the handle? Maybe a bit of debris built up and stopping full seating.

Is a soakaway necessary for a patio?

    You wouldn't normally bother

    Electric vans

Isn't the real bottom line how many miles do I actually drive for each pound I spend on diesel, petrol, lpg, electricity, chip oil or whatever? Or hydrogen if JCB have their way.

    Half garage conversion

The regs do recognise that some upgrades woud not be cost effective and don't therefore insist. IIRC they lay down a 7 year payback on the possible savings vs cost but I have never had an issue in 20+ years of designing. You can always stick a bit of extra insulation in walls or ceiling if...

What kind of hinges/damper for this?

Normal hinges plus gas struts would do you.

    Opinions on this please

You've been given people's opinions, OP. Up to you to a accept or ignore but you don't seem to want to?

    Opinions on this please

It's a change of use so that would mean PP. You'd also need a proper stair to a bedroom.

Sandstone as backfill and concrete mix.

OK yes you can hire small crushers. You're below dpc so water retention not an issue, What floor is going in: if a ground bearing slab then you need to make sure your fill is compacted and a simple way forward would be to pack the stone in like a dry stone wall so it becomes a rigid lump or you...

    Soakaway

Clay don't drain very well so the 1cube per 30sqm doesn't work. I wouldn't touch the existing which is quite possibly totally legit in your circumstances if you had a sensible bco. Shed? Shove a water butt beside it. Chambers: you really want them at changes of direction but for just sw and...

    Fixing stairs

I like to think I can do most things but I do struggle with plastering. I had this stair problem in one of our rentals and my solution was to rip some very thin strips of wood just a couple of mm thick on the table saw and tack them to the bottom of the stairs then another couple of layers at...

Maximum drainage pipe fall for rainwater

Not an issue with just .water but solids can very definitely build up where the flow is not nice and smooth: we had it on a new build some years ago where flow from a side branch can into a chamber too fast and stuck to the opposite side of the base`

    Mix for kerb stones

150 bed and haunched behind in a single operation is the old school way of kerb and edging laying. DIY you're probably better off laying a 150 strip allowing yourself 10mm for mortar then bed the kerbs like bricks
