    Wiring new ceramic hob

Thanks Andy. Problem I'm having now is that the flex power cable doesn't quite reach the hob terminals from the normal way of doing it on the worktop and across the hole, but they do reach from underneath once the hob is sitting in the hole. But it's too difficult for me to wire it up and put...

    Wiring new ceramic hob

Hello chaps. I'm useless with electrics but am having a go at installing my new ceramic (non induction) hob. Having disabled the mains for the hob at the fuse box, I've removed the wires from the old hob. According to the instructions, I've screwed in a couple of jumpers bridging two neutral...

    F28 - Vaillant Ecotec Plus 831

Hi guys. Last night I got alternating codes 'F.54 Fault Appliance Start' and 'F.28 Failure in startup Ignition Unsuccessful'. I pressed the black ignite button and the screen lit up saying 'loading..' Then I heard some whirring noises as it presumably tried a few times to ignite because a burner...

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Thanks guys. That's all getting a bit difficult for me. And I can't move the hinge up 100mm as there's only about 60mm extra space to the top edge of the door. Surely if there's a 40mm repair plate like that one on ebay there has to be a 35mm one? Unless the ebay seller got it wrong and his...

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

I got a reply from the seller and he says the hole on his repair plate is 40mm. I make mine to be 35mm. So that won't work I guess?

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

See what you mean, the washers would help bridge any gap between screw and plate if I were to loosen the screws. Still, the screws aren't too long, I must have inserted them in some wrong way that made them break through.

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Right, seems to be 3.5cm diameter, I'll check with the seller.

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Am I measuring the correct diameter? Do you mean this, or this,

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Sounds like a plan! Thanks. I've got some 502 PVA. However, I'm wondering if the screws are making those broken bits stick out and might not allow the pieces to sit flush, and if I should back the screws off but without making them too loose?

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Nope, I make them 15mm. Two of the 4 screws didn't puncture at all. I started the screw holes using a braddle but not so far that the braddle would have done that damage I don't think. Maybe the screws have gone in at a slight angle?

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

So the good news is that I fixed the hinge on the bottom right of the carcass side panel with a Hafele repair plate. The bad news is that I've damaged the outside! I don't get it, the screws are slightly shorter than the width of the panel. Any suggestions on patching it up? It's not that I'll...

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Ah right, I didn't know the plate holes are threaded. All makes sense now!

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

What I don't get is, and sorry for my ignorance, on the hafele plate for instance, the screws go through the holes of the wardrobe hinge bracket and through he holes of the plate. The plate will obviously be firmly fixed to the carcass but what's going to stop the hinge pulling away from the...

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Ok, thanks. So just to clarify, the hafele hinge kit for the hinge on the wardrobe and the ebay one for the hinge on the door, is that right?

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Right but that ebay link is good for the door but doesn't look it would work for the bottom right where the broken screw holes are on the frame itself and not the door. Maybe I'd need the repair plate from the eBay link and one of these for the hinge on the frame...

    Wardrobe threaded screw holes

Hello chaps. I've put a wardrobe together (not new) but two of the hinges won't stay fixed, they pop out. The 2 holes in the top of the left door and the two holes in the bottom right of the wardrobe (not door) have obviously lost their integrity. I was going to try stuffing with 2 or 3...

    Buzzing microwave

Hi guys. My Baumatic built in microwave has performed flawlessly for 8 years. But since a couple of days ago there is now a god awful buzzing when the door is closed. And when the door is left open, something creepy happens after about 5 minutes, the turntable starts turning very slowly by...

    Stain for my fence panels

Yeah. These are the 6 colours they do. I guess it's either harvest gold or medium oak.

    Stain for my fence panels

Awesome. It says measure area height and area width. Being a bit dumb, I guess that means height of panel as area height, (let's say 5 foot) and panel width x 10 panels as area width? I put 5 foot height and 60 foot width and it says I'll need 4.65 litres. That's only I tub! :D Don't know if...

    Stain for my fence panels

Thanks for the advice JohnD and for the link Johnny, I forgot about the BM stores. My colour of choice is Harvest Gold as I don't want it too dark. I'm looking for a shade of colour to closely match the stain on my shed which was from my Barrettine tin. Or maybe it's better to go darker...
