I got a reply from the seller and he says the hole on his repair plate is 40mm. I make mine to be 35mm. So that won't work I guess?

See what you mean, the washers would help bridge any gap between screw and plate if I were to loosen the screws. Still, the screws aren't too long, I must have inserted them in some wrong way that made them break through.

Nope, I make them 15mm. Two of the 4 screws didn't puncture at all. I started the screw holes using a braddle but not so far that the braddle would have done that damage I don't think. Maybe the screws have gone in at a slight angle?
