Excel formula to calculate electricity bill

I have written an Excel formula to keep track of my usage since the previous bill - I expect that some people on this forum have done the same or similar. I can now enter my current reading and see exactly what my next bill will be, including VAT. Now the technical part: I have calculated the...

    Electric fan oven

My Neff fan oven plugs in and is rated at 2.99KW. It is brilliant. It only really uses more than 2.2KW on the very highest settings or grill.

Possible relaxation of MOT testing frequencies.

A recent test showed up a blown headlight bulb. I rarely drive at night so hadn't noticed, but my wife had driven it through London several times at night just before the MOT. A friend of mine was actually pulled over by the police as his brake lights weren't working - he had 10 months left on...

Ooops! Sorry - I'll post a few comments there.

MOT every 2 years - any comments?

Apparently this idea was raised at Cabinet by Grant Shapps when Boris asked for ideas that would reduce the cost of living. Over the years my MOTs have highlighted issues which were potentially dangerous (mainly brakes and tyres). On one occasion they found that a headlight bulb had blown and I...

    Whose idea was this?

Symptoms The Power On Lid Open is a new feature that is introduced on some of the newer Dell computers. Cause When a user opens the notebook, the system will be awakened or power on automatically. A user might not like this feature and want to disable it. Mine powers on even after a full...

    Whose idea was this?

Thanks mcprinter, that link seems interesting. I was joking about Win95 by the way but I'm old enough to remember having to boot the OS from a 3.5" floppy disk. Was that Windows3? I could make a cup of tea and it was still loading when I'd drunk it!

    Whose idea was this?

Harry..I quite liked Win95! Pumps....I really can't understand why it's not in Power Settings as it's quite a big change.

    Whose idea was this?

I recently bought a new laptop. When I shut down everything goes off as usual. When I open the lid it boots automatically into Win11. Is this another example of automation gone mad? More to the point, how can I disable it? Google says that it can only be done through the BIOS but surely...

    Pyronix zone setting query

Problem solved. My installer had set it up to arm individual zones with a combination of keys that avoids the master code.

    Pyronix zone setting query

I have the V11. I can arm individual zones via the app but I can't if I use the keypad. So if I want to set the perimeter (zone C) I understand that after entering my code I should be given the option to choose which zone to arm. Mine just goes to 'arming full set'.

    Electricity Use

My electricity supplier (EDF) provides a web-based hub that displays the daily/monthly consumption in £ and Kwh. It is actually not a gimmick (as I first suspected) and does throw up some interesting information which is helping to reduce bills a bit. One thing we did was to start using our Mira...

    Wifi speed dilemma

My friend recently had the full fibre eero system installed by Talk Talk. The promised speed is 150 Mbs but he rarely gets much more than 50 right next to the eero. I tested the connection with my tablet and got 150 over WiFi next to the eero, so the issue must be with his laptop. Could this be...

    Pyronix V11 keypad.

The eero router doesn't have WPS, it's all app based which is a bit of a pain. Mind you, I couldn't connect my panel to my BThub2 by WPS so I used the keypad.

    Pyronix V11 keypad.

Can I input a # symbol? My friend needs his new router to be connected and this is part of the SSID/password codes. Has anyone tried the connection method using a smart device to connect to the panel? Does it work OK? Might give it a try if all else fails.

    Electric cooker wiring.

Terryplumb..are there any cookers that can use a 13amp plug? Does the OP mean oven or cooker? I think it's the latter according to his first post. I have a Neff oven that is rated at 2.99KW (but with a gas hob).

    VOIP phone recommendation?

Any recommendations for a VOIP phone (no need for video screen etc. - just a phone). For connection to a full fibre router phone socket (BT hub2). No need for remote handsets at this stage.

Talk Talk fibre 150 with eero box.

Printer now working via Ethernet. But I had to move the DECT base upstairs (from the downstairs hallway) into a small office in order to use the Grandland equipment for the primary phone. Now the two remote phones downstairs are working intermittently and throw up a message saying they cannot...
