    MR16/GU5.3 12v LED

Ho Ho Ho one and all, Getting my knickers is a twist regarding replacing a garage light. I have a Hormann garage door, operated by a remote transmitter. When the door opens or closes, an MR16/GU5.3 12v 35w halogen light fires up for a default time of around 3 minutes. Unfortunately, it has...

    Garage door light

Apologies regarding difficulty in find them. Yes, there are plenty but I only want one, not packs of four, five or six. And where there is one listed, it does seem to be be rather expensive when compared with the packs of six. Since the door is mains operated, I guess it is AC. But mu...

    Garage door light

Ho Ho Ho one and all, I have a Hormann garage door operator that when it opens / closes activates a 12v MR16 halogen spot light for a few minutes. The bulb has now stopped working and I would like to replace it with a wider beam angle LED. Having difficulty finding a 12v MR16 LED but there...

Where is the drainage pipe outlet?

It's a job I need to investigate but scrambling around a tangle of branches and bramble in wet woodland, albeit only a few meters from my fence, does not get my motivation fired up!!!

Where is the drainage pipe outlet?

Don't have a compressor but a leaf blower sounds hopeful. Again, thanks for the various suggestions.

Where is the drainage pipe outlet?

Sound, interesting thought. Could plug the hose of my wet/dry vac into the pipe and hopefully, the motor would be audible in the woodland. It did occur to me, perhaps a plumbers smoke bomb in the wet/dry vac with the hose reversed to blow mode. May be the smoke would appear at the woodland end?

Where is the drainage pipe outlet?

Interesting! My guess will be that 50m + of wire will be more expensive than the dye.

Where is the drainage pipe outlet?

Thanks for the ideas. If memory serves me correctly, it is Wavin coil. Have been considering poking around but certain I will hit stones and not then know when I have found the pipe. Hose or drain rods; didn't think of the former but don't have access to 50m + of drain rods. As for the dye...

Where is the drainage pipe outlet?

What ho one and all, The land for my house has a fall of around3-4 meters, front to back over about 50 m. Rainwater from the roundabout in front tends to drain onto my land a prior to building, sort of 'flooded' the front garden. During the build, I installed a sump on the verge and took a...

    Clearing kitchen sink drainage

Thanks. If used regularly, I can understand that it would keep the pipework clear (ish) but how does it do that after the trap? After the trap, it will just flow away and presumably, hardly clean anything.

    Clearing kitchen sink drainage

What ho one and all, In the greater scheme of building questions, a question about clearing the kitchen sink rates rather low. But I have just done it and not surprisingly, found it somewhat blocked with black algae and gunk. I have searched with Dr. Google on how to keep it clear but I...

    Thermocouple

Ignoring the detail that perhaps I want to become a Darwin Award contender, if I am unable to find a suitable tc, how would a certified gas engineer find one? There seems to be a million to choose from and they all have different fitting sizes. Would be grateful for an answer to my question...

    Thermocouple

How does a thermocouple work? Does it produce an small electrical signal? Do they wear out. I have an Ikea / Westinghouse hob; over the years, the thermocouples have been causing trouble to the extent that recently, some of the burners will not stay on. I have cleaned the head and the tc...

    MVR Stat

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it does have a heater battery, I guess to pre-heat the incoming air if the outside is too cold. But it is tripping during the current 'summer' months and giving an alarm indication, the fans not working, when obviously, the incoming air cannot be too cold. Once...

    MVR Stat

What ho one and all, I have a MVHR unit in the loft and recently, when it starts, the Alarm light is illuminated. The manual says that the incoming thermostat needs manually resetting but this involves clambering into the loft every time. I want to replace the stat but as it is a Swedish...

Thanks. I think the timber is the way to go.

    Plastic edging

The dpc is a good idea. I had considered that in the past and not used it. Obviously, the wood rots due to the damp conditions and contact with the soil. I don't know but would there be any difference between damp soil in contact with the wood and dpc which will not allow water to drain...

    Plastic edging

Thanks for the advice. I am uncertain about the Everedge because the areas I want to use are are not bed/grass but bed, gravel drive. And when the drive was laid, the build-up is crushed builders rubble, grade 1 scalping and then the gravel. I can see immense challenges hammering the...

    Plastic edging

What ho one and all, As edging between the soil and gravel path, we originally used 4x1 tanalised timer which I gave a coat of black wood preservative. Looks good when new but as it is rubbish, fast growing wood, it does not have longevity when in the ground. It lasted about 5 years before I...

    Flext L4x MVHR unit

Thank you soooooo much for the replies. Never considered that the frost stat would be open in normal conditions but makes perfect sense. Will test the stat next time it happens, but of course, having removed both stats, looked at them and wiped a damp rag across the base, over the past 24...
