Wall mounting TV - socket / aerial point height

Good morning, I am planning to wall mount the TV in the living room. I had planned to move the coax aerial point and a double socket to the centre and then put a TV unit in front to hide the sockets and where the cables exit from the wall running from the TV. The thing that is giving me a...

    Adjusting water regulator - DIY?

Thanks oldbuffer - i've done that now. It was actually about 2.5 bar before and adjusted to just over 3 bar and I can already see a difference in the shower. I am reluctant to increase it too much so will see how I go with this. Thanks for your help.

    Adjusting water regulator - DIY?

Thanks for the reply. Good job I checked as shows I don't really understand the regulator. I noticed the red pointer at 5 bar (but this is just a loose pointer - I can move it by hand). The black pointer is at only 2.5 bar - what does the latter represent in this case? When you run the kitchen...

Replace boiler / heating system or leave well along?

Hi again, Following my other thread about the water regulator I also wanted to know generally what thoughts are about the heating system and If I should invest in replacing. I have a conventional boiler (Glow worm Micron 60FF) in situ with a Gledhill Systemate 2000 thermal store (Id never...

    Adjusting water regulator - DIY?

Hi folks, Been a while since I posted here, but just moved into a new property so have a couple of queries. I have very poor flow rate in my ensuite shower (reasonable everywhere else). I've noticed a water regulator has been fitted by the stopcock. I have attached a picture. Basically can...

Neon light switch permanently illuminated (for loft light)

Just to follow up, the wire switch around worked a treat. Thanks for your help.

Neon light switch permanently illuminated (for loft light)

Thanks will give that try, I thought doing that would reverse the switch (i.e. off is on and vice versa) but it obviously isnt the same as a normal switch. So basically so long as I keep the same twin neutrals and twin lives with each other I cant go to far wrong....

Neon light switch permanently illuminated (for loft light)

Is there a reasonable way of identifying which is the offending live wire to be moved or would I be best placed to get a professional in?

Neon light switch permanently illuminated (for loft light)

Hi all, I have a loft light switch with neon indicator light. The switch itself works perfectly fine but the neon indicator is permanently illuminated, whether the switch is on or off. I am not sure if it designed to be permanently illuminated or if it is wired incorrectly. I have taken a...

Loft condensation - a further question - open loft hatch from cold/ventilated room?

Hi all, I am sure a few of us have this problem at this time of year. I have had condensation before but I must admit it is the worst it has been this year. I have read all of the guides and general advice - one of which is to keep the loft hatch closed. However as a temporary fix would it...

New electric oven with plug (old one hardwired)

No socket on left is also wired separately although in to the same circuit as power to hob killed when turn off cooker circuit. Took the plate off and the left wires are thin ones - the ones on the right are thicker as you can see. I cant understand what the ones on the left are.

New electric oven with plug (old one hardwired)

Yes those cables exclude cooker cable (both sets originate from the wall). The extractor still works as on separate circuit (has a separate fused spur above oven, which kills the extractor when I turn it off). Slightly better pic attached (cooker wire cables out of site but are the new blue...

New electric oven with plug (old one hardwired)

Morning, finally getting round to the job in hand. Ive taken off the cover for the cooker connecting plate and found 2 cables with 2 lots of L, E, N. Wasnt expecting that. Power definitely dead to cooker when turned of cooker circuit at consumer unit (and cooker switch) Would you just go ahead...

New electric oven with plug (old one hardwired)

Just before I go ahead with this tomorrow, I read on another site about applying for Part P building regulation consent: http://www.mybuilder.com/questions/v/21069/convert-a-hardwired-outlet-to-a-plug-socket Is this correct? I've changed plenty of sockets, light fittings etc.. Is this a...

New electric oven with plug (old one hardwired)

Good morning, I have a quick question regarding fitting of a new single electric oven. The new oven comes with a 13A plug (Indesit FIM33KAIX). My old oven is hardwired into a connection plate behind the oven which is connected up to the cooker switch (I believe 45A?). I dont want to cut...
