    Help with LED strip lights

Agree with above, what looks to be a tranny, supplies AC. You need a DC power supply for your LEDs.

How much rewiring each side of meter on fuse upgrade 60 to 100

Measuring the outside diameter of the cable could be misleading as different grades of cable have differing thicknesses. Tri-rated for example. It may be close enough to give a 90% estimation. But the only true way would be to measure the diameter of a strand of the cable, divide it by two to...

    Combi boiler replacement

On the odd occasion that I run a bath, if I turn the hot tap on full, the water is not hot enough, I have to close it to a mid point. When running hot water in a sink or basin, it is fine. There is a room stat, normally set to 20C but it rarely reaches that temp unless it is quite mild outside...

    Combi boiler replacement

Been getting quotes for the replacement of my Baxi 105e 31Kw Combi boiler. The ones I have been offered are a Baxi 36kW and a Worcester 32kW. My present boiler is working but is old and I'm expecting things to go wrong soon, hence the replacement. When running in winter, it seems to be working...

Outdoor Patio Lights - SWA Cable

Firstly, you need some of the earth beneath the square cut out removing so that you have a little play in the cables and somewhere to lose the slack once the light is mounted. Then assuming that there is nowhere to gland off inside the fitting, an option would be gland off each cable just above...

    Bathroom pull cord switch

If there are no other switches that control the light then it is a one way switch. You can replace it with a one way or two way switch. The latter will have three terminals, just make sure one wire is connected to C, the other can go to L1 or L2, it doesn't matter.

    Add light switch to garage

If you are going down the junction box route instead of using a socket then WAGO connectors are ideal for 2, 3 or 5 way connecting.

    Add light switch to garage

Firstly, the cable from the house needs adequate protection. It has to be protected by an RCD somewhere, probably in the house consumer unit. It has to have adequate overcurrent protection at source, either a fused spur at 13 amp or again at the house consumer unit. 2.5 mm could have as high as...

    My screws look terrible!

The plastic cup washers with covers will look OK. Not sure if that's waht you have already tried, but you can get a larger size that should accommodate your screws.

    Carpet Fitting Disaster

Carpet backing can be very abrasive but the marks aren't usually horizontal or singular like that. I reckon he's rested the body of the knife on the skirting while trimming.

    Spray foam insanity

A fella I worked with had a can fall out of his trolley on a B&Q car park. It started squirting foam whilst spinning. Foam hit every car in a 10m radius, including the inside of his and one or two others that had their boots open. I reckon the insurance bill was quite high.

    How to remove sink nuts

You can buy a long specially shaped spanner specifically for that task. Have a look at screwfix or tool station.

    Radiators won't warm up

Try shutting off all radiators except the ones on the top floor. If they still don't get warm, they never will do. In that case, look at your pump to see if it is powerful enough to force the water to that height. You might need to replace it with one of a higher flow.

    Repeat leak from basin tap.

I've had a couple of leaks over the years from the connection to my bathroom wash basin tap. On each occasion, the washer has been broken. The first one was a fibre washer. I replaced this with a similar one, taking care not to over tighten. That one started leaking today and is shown in the...

    Mains indicator LEDs

I've always works to the figures that LEDs need 3v at 10mA, they do vary so have a look at the data sheets. So you will be dropping say 237v. 237/0.01=23700 ohms. You could get away with a 22000 ohm resistor but it must be rated about 250v, so quite bulky. The power dissipated is 0.01 squared X...

Advice on using existing 32A cooker supply for EV 7kw charger

You would have to have some work done in the consumer unit so that the old cooker supply has its own RCD protection. If you get that done, I can't see a problem.

Logik TV HKC factory message on screen.

I have a logik TV, just used in the bedroom, nothing connected to it apart from an aerial booster. Last night when I turned it on, there was a blank screen and a message up in the top right corner saying "HKC factory" then has what looks like the TVs internal details, SW version, Mac Address...
