    Basic basin waste question

Hi, just so I'm sure before I order. I have a bathroom basin with a 1 1/4" waste fitting and I want to order a bottle trap. The traps are listed as 32mm or 40mm is this measurement just for the waste pipe connection and the basin waste fitting will be 1 1/4" for both the 32 and 40mm versions...

Pipe diameter from tank for thermostatic shower?

We have another shower but closer to the hot water cylinder which gives a good flow etc so if I can match that I'd be happy. Back to the pipe diameter, 22mm or 28mm any other thoughts re the length of run V's diameter?

Pipe diameter from tank for thermostatic shower?

Hi, my ongoing quest for knowledge continues with my next question. What pipe diameter would you recommend to feed an unpumped thermostatic shower from a vented hot water cylinder via a new Essex flange? The run is approx 22 meters (up into the loft along and back down), the cylinder is fed via...

    Hot water cylinder boss size?

Considering where the boss is I think I did well to get a picture at all, trying to hold a ruler as well would have ended in tears. But I take your point.

    Hot water cylinder boss size?

I would have liked to have taken the shot form further away but I simply couldn't due to the wall.

    Hot water cylinder boss size?

Are you sure, the immersion heater boss is on the top of the cylinder and about 7cm across where as this one is on the side of the cylinder about 6cm down from the start of the dome and feels about 3.5cm across?

    Hot water cylinder boss size?

Following on from a previous post I would like to take the advice given and fit an essex flange to give a dedicated feed for a new shower. I've had a feel around the hot water cylinder and near the top on the side I came across a boss. It looks like I could use it for the flange but before I...

Shower supply from expansion pipe ok?

Many thanks, although getting another pipe up into the loft and across to where it needs to be will be fun as it's a big loft and it's boarded. What are the chances of it being ok as per the diagram? or would I be better off getting the feeds from the bath taps in an adjacent bathroom(approx 8...

Shower supply from expansion pipe ok?

When you say a seperate supply to the shower do you mean the cold or hot and if hot where from? Also would a check valve between the cold water tank and the connection for the shower (hot feed) prevent air being sucked back towards the shower?

Shower supply from expansion pipe ok?

Hi, planning to fit a shower in a new 1st floor ensuite roughly under the cold water tank in the loft. On a gravity fed system with the hot water cylinder on the 1st floor (opposite end of house from the cold water tank). Can I supply the hot feed to a thermostatic shower from the hot water...

Best flow option for shower tray and waste?

Thanks for the reply Mike. The run is around 6 meters, so from what I’ve read I will need to install an aav. Had a quick look for a trap with an aav built in but as you say these seem available for bath wastes but I'm yet to find one for a shower waste. I'm happy enough to use one of the smaller...

Best flow option for shower tray and waste?

I'm looking into installing a new shower which is on a long run to the stack. I would like to go for a belt and braces approach as much as possible and was wondering what the best options were for the tray/waste and waste pipe diameter etc. To get the required drop on the run I have no option...

Help novice with new ensuite waste plumbing

Many thanks once again, I'll have a chat with the BI to discuss my options before I start I think, but I'm sure I will be back with more questions

Help novice with new ensuite waste plumbing

Many thanks for the reply, I know it’s not an ideal situation but it would be far better from my point of view to get it to work if possible rather than add a new stack. I may be able to get the shower/bath wastes down to a boss on the stack behind the ground floor cloakroom wall if it would...

Help novice with new ensuite waste plumbing

Hi, planning a new ensuite as per diagram and would be grateful for some suggestions/advice. The main problem I think I have is the distance of the shower from the soil stack as it measures approx 6.5 meters (running around the room) just to the new WC. You can’t see in the diagram but...

Reulations for rooms off of rooms

Many thanks, I hope you mean my original plan with just an arch into the bedroom and no door on the en-suite?

Reulations for rooms off of rooms

There is a problem of a chimney breast which will limit where I can put the new opening. That’s why I had the new dividing wall inline with the centre of the arch, to maximise the en-suite width. I could end up with a corridor wider than the en-suite! I'll get my tape measure out once some...

Reulations for rooms off of rooms

The area to the north of the en-suite will become a corridor, separated from the en-suite by a stud wall with laminated glass top to allow some light into the area. At the end of this wall you will have the option of carrying on through an arch to the bedroom or turning back into the en-suite...
