Thanks for the reply and your questions. The ASHP is a Mitsubishi ecodan - PUHZ-W85VAA The cylinder is a pre-plumbed mitsubishi packaged items complete with pumps (primary and secondary) and outboard plate heat exchanger. FTC5. There is no heatstore / thermal store employed in the install...

Using dHW on ASHP pre-plumbed tank with external plate heat exchanger

Anyone have any experience of such set ups? I have some good friends who have such a set up but a very strange anomaly exists. The tank is 150l and the water is lifted to 50c by the ashp. (house is only usually 2 people). blending to 38c gives a theoretical no losses duration of about 19...

OK phone experts - PLEASE help me work this one out!

Normally the connections up to the master socket are BT openreach. The "extensions" on a master socket are your problem. BT have to test, prove and resolve faults including below threshold speeds at the master socket. Do some googling, you'll see what I mean.

OK phone experts - PLEASE help me work this one out!

Yes on the grey Cat 6 cable yes. But...... if the master socket is downstream, the normal rules are you should not be touching anything before the master socket. As everything before is BT network.... Those 2x gel connectors are common BT use in the junction box.

OK phone experts - PLEASE help me work this one out!

Maybe. he / she must know that you can not plug a telephone or modem into that junction box! There is no consumer jacks for a start.

OK phone experts - PLEASE help me work this one out!

Agree with what the others have told you...... BUT if the grey box is only a junction and the first point with telephone sockets is the master, BT Openreach are responsible for testing at the isolated master socket so why are they testing in the Garage saying it is not my problem. If the master...

Advice for best way to remove and fill in an internal window

Seems pretty doable. Internal window now. Wooden (pine frame?). So on the bathroom side put some battens in and recess them for the plaster boars and skim. You could use rockwool in the void for some more sound insulation. On the side you want the alcove. Just use some plaster board or ply...

Fumes in house and excessive damp

I think you’ve got a lot of things on your mind. I can see why you are not that happy with the flue sealing. You can see on the outside it leaves a slight gap around part of the circumference.. If the inside is the same, or the rubber not firm against internal plaster, it will cause draughts...

    Extension plans question.

Do you know how your neighbours feel about the extension?. Will they be following with something similar in the near future? Are they fussed. Bear in mind that under the neighbour consultation scheme if the neighbour (or any adjacent and rear neighbours complain) then the council need to...

    Samsung Smart Switch

Hi. Ok. I understand although I don't fully get the same views when I use phone to phone. Mostly, I thought smart switch is kind of a once off data tfr mechanism for everything which is why it might not be good at selectively choosing some items.. May be.. What happens if you don't use smart...

Ponding issue on roof - help !

I like it. I had a builder tell me some commercial felt roofs have sprinklers!! Still if the decking starts to flex it becomes a bigger and bigger problem. I guess it depends on depth!

Large cracks appeared during RSJs installation

I agree with the comments made. On the money I reckon. To give the OP an opportunity to sit back and assess things, I had similar openings in the rear of our 1930s semi in 2018. I also was not happy with the propping (using a few strong boys while demolishing), the approach, and some cracking...

    Samsung Smart Switch

I use smart switch occasionally if I am upgrading / moving phones etc. Could you not just plug the tablet in to the imac by cable and selct the files your want from the phone in the mac OS equivalent of explorer which would hopefully give you more sensible file sorting?

    Pyronix KX10DP WE PIR Problems

Mmm ok. Thanks for reply. OK. so maybe fit proper (non pet modified) sensors upstairs / downstairs along with glass and window sensors downstairs and deactivate the PIRs downstairs when the pet is at home!

    Pyronix KX10DP WE PIR Problems

Are there any systems that have pet supressed PIRs that work reliably. I.e. no false alarms and alarm when someone breaks in. I was thinking about putting an enforcer v10 kit in but now thinking again. we have a dog (sprocker) and he's likely to be in the house when we are out. Whilst I could...

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

Well I agree with what @Notch7 wrote in that reply. It is not ideal. Best solution is dig a 1m3 soakaway cube. But, it has been that way probably a long time, the ground slopes away from the house so the water table will too. You don't have damp wall problems anywhere near discharge? The...

Down pipe, waste and drain confusion?

The soil stack should extend up the wall and terminate above 2nd floor height with a vent cap grille. Has yours been removed while you were hacking render off. Or was it left at ground level like that by previous owners?

    Single storey large rear extension

Just as a learning point for me, this side elevation for stepped rear elevations, that limit rear extension to half width under PD, does that apply to a previous extension that caused the step rather than an as built original elevation?

    Single storey large rear extension

Lots of good, to the point advice, on a lot of replies in this thread!! Lots of replies and practical experience. I see one or two thread replies that say a neighbour can cause problems or others that say neighbours are fine, if it's not overbearing! Overbearing is very subjective!!! I...
