Expanding foam to stick plasterboard patch to brick?

I have used foam specifically for plasterboard. Works well. You squirt onto the board and leave for a few minutes. Mist the board and wall with water as Woody says This seems to be a low expansion foam so might well be ok. Don’t use too much or you will be fighting it

    Self levelling kitchen floor.

I use Setcrete SLC primer under my 3240. Was available in a smaller can than the Mapei primer. Have you used SLC before? Was my first time

WI-FI TRVs- are these a thing?

Yes I got a hub with 5 TRVs reasonably priced from Amazon last year Got another 3 on an offer recently. 3 bed, 2 recep house. Mrs works from home Works pretty well from a comfort perspective. Lots of changes to insulation and energy provider so no data on savings

WI-FI TRVs- are these a thing?

I have Drayton Wiser. Similar to Honeywell Evo and Tado. Probably others too. Stand-alone Wi-Fi or Bluetooth TRVs rely on your thermostat calling for heat or your rads won’t heat. The systems above can just heat the rooms you want.

Cutting tiles and adhesive slow to set

DIYer I used one of those Abracs discs on my old angle grinder to cut tiles. Most of it free hand but some with a straight edge as a guide. Worked well. Very dusty though. Did the cuts outside.

How to rectify this godawful plasterboard bodge?

DIYer Get it out and have a look. If you want a cheapish DIY fix Plasterboard can be stuck on with plasterboard adhesive or plasterboard adhesive foam. Foam ideal for smaller jobs. Jointing compound and paper tape over the joints followed by more jointing compound to feather the joint out...

    Worktop. Corner butt joint

Thanks both for the replies :) I may have some cam dowels. In the 'might come in handy one day kit'. I do have some forstner bits. Not sure if any the right size. The join is over a corner cupboard and I probably have room to fix a couple of blocks or brackets to clamp the joint together while...

    Worktop. Corner butt joint

Fitting a worktop for a neighbour today as part of fitting a used kitchen on a tight budget. He has picked up some suitable worktop off cuts. Worktop is 22mm square edge. There will be a corner joint. The fact it is square edge, does it need a joining strip? He also got some end trim, so I am...

    USB-C Socket

If it is tucked away, could you use a spacer if needed? I bought a Schneider double with 2 x USB A and had to use a spacer between the 25mm backbox and socket.

    CH pipes full of sludge.

DIYer and have done drains, cleans, new rads, etc on my 25+ year old old system. Fair bit of sludge in the rads. If it is a like for like radiator, they won't drain the system. If you need pipework modifying it may require a full or partial drain. Upstairs would only require a partial. Are you...

    Shower Screen Profile Removal

They are normally screwed to the wall as well as siliconed. Have you removed the screws? One of these with blade all the way out to get through the silicon. Use gently to avoid the the blade snapping. https://www.screwfix.com/p/magnusson-retractable-18mm-snap-off-knife/9614v

Visible tape joints after painting plasterboard

Give the plasterer a call and see what they say. You will then know where you stand. I would suggest that if they will fix it, the repainting will be down to you.

Visible tape joints after painting plasterboard

Anything going on the wall behind the sink and loo? Tiles to match those in the shower could look good and protect the wall from splashes. What sort of rad or towel rail are you fitting? You may find it is not so obvious once you have a rad, mirror, towels etc. It looks a really nice job and I...

Visible tape joints after painting plasterboard

DIYer but have done some jointing and taping including butt joints to skim. Did a lot of research. My thoughts Light sand Paint Zinsser BIN 8 inches either side of the join Easifil 6 inches either side of the join and blend out. You will end up with a very slight hump that should be almost...

    Kitchen worktop refresh

Second thoughts As a quick, temporary and cheap fix you could give vinyl a try. Remove the hob first if you can to get the vinyl under it. Have never removed one myself. Silicon bead around the sink Would recommend a random pattern to hide imperfections I use this supplier quite regularly (work...

    Kitchen worktop refresh

I have vinyled a worktop in a bathroom. Turned out well and lasted. Wouldn't think it would be suitable in a kitchen from a wear perspective. Would you be able to replace a worktop? 4M are available for less than £200 delivered. If the doors are a flat finish, vinyl could be used.
