    Screed prep advice (laitance?)

Nipped back down to take a probably useless video of me scraping at it. For context, that was pretty much full force and hurt my hand :D https://imgur.com/a/5Te1F5q

    Screed prep advice (laitance?)

Evening all. A few months ago I decided to have a bash at DIY screeding my extension floor - a readymix sand cement screed, with fibres, on top of a vapour control layer above insulation. Being honest, it's a decision I've regretted since - the conditions on the day were torrential and it's...

Oh on, please pop em back if you don't mind. It's on my list of things to revisit, I just haven't got there.

Grohe Wall Hung Toilet - Waste Flexibility

Haha, frame is here but still in the shed! I kind of put the toilet thing to one side for a moment while I sorted out the rest

Texecom Premier Elite - Should my sounder go off when disconnecting all power?

Yeah, everything is functional. Bell and strobe work as expected, the box shows the two flashing LEDs for "normal operation" and I can confirm it goes off if you forget to unset it in the morning! So I suspect you're right about the battery - either knackered, or not plumbed in properly.

Texecom Premier Elite - Should my sounder go off when disconnecting all power?

Cheers guys - it's only been up a couple of years. I won't lie, I hate heights so roped in a mate to help me. Will have to check it out at some point

    Amateur DIY Extension

I thought I'd also just add, I tried to go through and add up the costs. I reckon we're in for about £10k up to now. A chunk of that is on tools, with things like £200 on the disc cutter. And also things like skips - I'm also including all the demolition costs and waste with this. Materials are...

    Amateur DIY Extension

Incidentally, I finally got the lead capped off next door so I never have to think about this stupid water pipe again!

    Amateur DIY Extension

Jeez, where does the time go! Still plodding on, so I thought I'd try and give you some updates. Unfortunately, my phone doesn't really like taking photos any more so these next bits are a bit lacking but I'll try and get better! It also feels like I've done way more stuff than I'll write about...

Texecom Premier Elite - Should my sounder go off when disconnecting all power?

Was adding an expander to my Premier Elite 24 panel yesterday, so I knocked off the power and disconnected the internal battery. I half expected the external sounder to trigger, which it didn't. Should it have?

    Composite Decking Sub Base

Hi All, We're planning on putting some composite decking in the garden - currently it's got a load of concrete which is far too high to be used as a base, so that's got to come up. The question is - what's best to put down once I've ripped up the concrete? I'm liking the look of some of these...

Oak back door frame - tips for getting the finish spot on

Basically, I'm DIY building most of an extension (i.e., no builders or contractors involved - just trades I get in as needed) and we'd like a oak door and frame. Because it's new, the door is going to be sat in the reveal by like 150mm+, so there'll be no architrave. So, plasterer recommended...

UPVC door stuck and it's my fault - any ideas?

Rescued by the window man! Dunno what he did as I never stand over trades, but I know he took the glass out after a while.

UPVC door stuck and it's my fault - any ideas?

By absolute sheer coincidence I had a text from the people coming to fit some windows into my extension to say they're coming tomorrow - so I've left it alone. I've got a bad feeling, but if they can't fix it non destructively then I stood no chance

UPVC door stuck and it's my fault - any ideas?

So I have royally messed up. Our UPVC patio door mechanism started getting stuck yesterday. And I mean it was taking all my strength to unlock and lock it even when open so defo the gearbox. Anyway, skip to the end - I'd taken off the lock mechanism and everything to try and source one. Local...

Grohe Wall Hung Toilet - Waste Flexibility

Cheers guys, appreciate all your responses. I will try and draw out the dimensions and explain a bit more. To be honest, I've actually ordered the frame as I think it'll make more sense when I get it and I do have a fallback plan

    Outdoor Kitchen/Grill Area

I'm gonna have to stop reading this forum while we're still planning our garden space. That looks outstanding - no idea what your trade is, but I'd say that's easily commercial quality.
