Hi All,

We're planning on putting some composite decking in the garden - currently it's got a load of concrete which is far too high to be used as a base, so that's got to come up.

The question is - what's best to put down once I've ripped up the concrete? I'm liking the look of some of these composite decking sub frames but they all seem to have these pedestals designed for concrete (?).

Am I best off digging up the concrete, digging down and laying more concrete?

Obviously an alternative is to use normal timber joists with posts dug in and set in concrete, but I'm looking for a very "fire and forget forever" type solution!

Obv you've finished it now. What did you do in the end?

I've got a concrete slab I'm going to put decking on, but I'm keeping it - it's flat, level, & sound, and anyway, changes in height add interest to a garden.
