Hello
is there a rule for the maximum thickness of screed i should use?
My garage conversion has around 20cm concrete. I am going to put 100mm PIR insulation on top of the DPM. how thick can i apply the screed? 50mm?
I have calculated this as the load.
102.5mm Brickwork
2.00 kN/m²
So 3.2m2 x 2.00 = 6.4Kn x 2 (double brick) = 12.8Kn
So maybe it is an overkill to use a 6x4inch concrete lintel.
which concrete lintel size would be sufficient? 6x4? i will just hire a genie to put in place...
it will be supporting 3.2m x 1m of bricks (solid double brick wall)
isn't a 6x4 inch suppressed concrete lintel enough ?

Hello
i want to raise the height of the garage door to install a new one. Currently, as shown in the picture attached, there is a 9x4inch timber (double) holding up the bricks above.
I want to use a concrete lintel and was told that x2 9x4 inch would be good but could be too large and maybe...
Thanks for that info!

Thanks a lot!
if I shut it off from the yellow lever, that would be fine. will the utility know i have to switch it off as there will be no gas in the meter as i will purge the gas out using the cooker?
Hello
I have a UNIFLO G4SZV gas meter. it says on the manual "optical detection of measuring gray code"
what does this mean?
I want to shut off the gas for a couple of days as I am refurbishing the kitchen in another property of mine and don't want to hit the gas pipes accidentally.

not brass sorry, steel or... not sure to be honest. i had to hammer the top part of it to make it a perfect 110mm
also, it's all above joists, over the tiles but will be boxed up nicely. I am not too keen on hidden pipes under tiled floors.... just don't want an issue with leaks etc....
Hello
I am about to start my tiling in my upstairs bathroom which I delayed from last year.
I just made a quick sketch of my drainage plan.
Please see below, is it all good for Uk Regs. My Building Officer told me that it is best to use 50mm. then connect your 40mm pipes to it. Using riding...
Hi
just installed 2 zone valves working with with two heating hives. Everything is correctly placed. I haven’t yet pressurized system….
quick question, when I start up the system, etc, both zone valves will be closed… but I would need to pressurise the system via filling loop… so I take it...
Yes, i mean it will be positioned properly, like water from A to B. but the actual drayton cover and writing will be upside down.... The flo pipe is going up into the ceiling, so the valve will have to be the other way around...
Hello
Can someone clear this up for me please, Is it just the name or what?
If you have two or more heating zones in a property, you will need:
Zone 1:
Hive Hub connected to a receiver paired to its thermostat.
Zone 2:
Hive receiver connected to a receiver paired to its thermostat.
Once...
Hello
The boiler is downstairs and I need to connect a Drayton za5 to the flow pipe going upstairs... is this valve allowed to be placed upside down? the flow direction is correct but the valve will need to be upside down in order to save some space inside a tight cupboard.
