    Strange Garage exterior walls

They look like a previous owner added them for a bit of privacy/feature. Perhaps they had a bench there. If you're sure they're not tied to the garage then knock em down and do what you want there.

What grout to buy for bathroom renovation?

I'd agree with your tiler, Topps grout is pretty good. I haven't used epoxy grout but I understand it's a pig to use and clean off tiles.

    Knots?

When you say a while back, you mean years? Looks to me like the knots have dried out. How long after painting did the paint peel?

    Scam emailer

I always ignore these type of emails, only one winner and that's the scammer. I had one who wanted to provide me leads, I go out and quote, pass quote to them so they can liaise with client, I assume to inflate my rate, and they pay me what I've quoted 30 days after job is done. They couldn't...

Paint flaking of plaster. How to fix?

Shower tray bedding and trap fitting

Most manufacturers state a bed of mortar. I've fitted loads as per their instructions and had no tray issues at all.

Shower tray bedding and trap fitting

Bed your tray on whatever the manufacturer says to use - most trays I install tend to be on a bed of mortar. I always fit the trap to the pipework and test before fitting the tray, this gives reassurance that it's leak free. The trap is then secured from above when the tray is fully fitted...

Heavy bar and fixing to wall

If you can find the studwork internally you could use a piece of 4 or 6x1 across the studs to give you a decent surface to fix to

    Painting freshly skimmed ceiling

I normally use a cheap trade white Matt emulsion to mist coat. I prefer to use a 60/40 mix with water (40 water) but you'll get varying mix ratio's if you ask different people. I use a medium pile Harris roller. It'll splatter a lot so cover anything you want protected
