Hi,

We have just moved into our first (1950s) home and after working on the interior the sun coming out has got us working on our garden.

We want to increase our garden footprint and we have these odd walls coming off the garage, as attached. From what I can see they are not part of the garage itself, as in the brickwork isn’t internal too.

Does anyone know what these might have been for? And if I’d just be okay to remove them with a sledgehammer?

thank you

They look like a previous owner added them for a bit of privacy/feature. Perhaps they had a bench there.

If you're sure they're not tied to the garage then knock em down and do what you want there.

As above. Check to see if there are any cross members (joists, steel bars etc) on the garage roof first. Look if there is summat similar on t'uther side too.

There possibly used to be another building there, or that was the start of one that never got any further

I would keep them and put paving in the middle, would make a great patio/bbq area/garden bar etc, you could even put a basic roof on top
