    Condensation or damp?

I've just noticed bubbling and raised paint on the wall near the door in my utility room. The wall feels very cold and damp at the bottom but as I go up the wall it doesnt feel as cold It's a single brick extension with foam backed plasterboard. I'm thinking its condensation because where I've...

    Wits end with boiler noise

I've got a video recording of it but it's too big a file. Il get an audio recording of it today. It started making the noise about 12 months after the boiler was fitted. We had radiators changed downstairs as plumber thought it was a faulty trv. The noise stopped for a month or so after then...

    Wits end with boiler noise

If it was water hammer would it not only do it when water is being drawn off elsewhere in the house. A change in pressure? It always does it when the heatings been on and gone off so its like when something is cooling down

    Wits end with boiler noise

Earlier on I turned the boiler off and it continued to make the noise. The noise had already started tho. The boiler pressure I couldn't say. It may be higher due to the heating having been on or it could be 1.5 bar which is what it normally is

    Wits end with boiler noise

I'm at my wits end with noise coming from the boiler when it isnt running. From underneath it sounds like someone drilling the wall with a hammer drill. A vibrating noise I've had every radiator and trv changed as the plumber I use thought it could be a faulty trv. I've had ideal to the boiler...

How can I go against the flow of the patio without putting a pump in? The patio corner is lower than the drain gully. Is aquacell a proper plastic soakaway?

    Aco/channel drains

Could I use postcrete to fix down a channel drain? I will dig out a trench/channel throw in some mot ballast and then use postcrete. I'm not confident mixing concrete myself however I've seen blue circle do other ready made concretes which are more expensive. Which would be the better option?

    Patio flooding

I agree but surely by digging a trench and another pit at the end of the garden it will help. I dont expect a miracle. Just to alleviate the problem. We are planning on having an extension at some point so the drainage issue will get completely sorted then when the ground is dug up for...

    Patio flooding

With how the patio slops I cant possibly run it into the drain. You know after a while of being in a house and all the things you pick up on and avoidable problems you find and you think why do it like that. The slope of the patio takes water away from the drain. A corner on the far edge of the...

    Patio flooding

I'm guessing this will come up a lot with the recent weather. When we get heavy rainfall our patio starts to flood in one corner. The patio slops to that one corner Anyway a couple of years ago I put pea gravel down the edge between the flags and lawn. Probably a foot wide all the way down. In...

Ideal logic boiler heating on when stat is off

Preheat is off all the time. Next time it does it I will try to turn the stat to continuous off and see if that does it. Its like the boiler gets stuck on full or something is telling it the temp is way off and its blasting it on full to get up to temp even tho it's way past its set point. If...

Ideal logic boiler heating on when stat is off

Does anyone here have any experience with an ideal logic plus condensing boiler? I have had a few issues but most recently the heating has been coming on full out of the programmed hours on the stat and when the stat has reached temp. The heating basically just doesnt go off To get it off I...

    Insulating poorly fitted loft hatch

My loft is suffering from a build up of condensation in places. I hope roof tile vents fitted but since then we've had new radiators fitted and new windows so the house is warmer. The condensation is back again So in a few months I plan to have soffit vents fitted which should help. Also the...
