The iSolem does have a separate power source, usb cable supplied. I tried plugging the power cable into the USB port of the sky box and a socket using an iPhone charger plug. Both indicated power was getting to the splitter, but no joy (possibly could have been faulty)

All sorted now. New aerial / cable and all ok. The signal quality was very bad, guessing the interference from the HDMI cable was enough to wipe out the little freeview signal that was present. Thanks all for your replies.

Disconnecting the HDMI from the tv with the bluray on, results in freeview returning after a couple of seconds. Plugging it back in and after a couple of seconds freeview goes off.
