Overboard Chipboard Flooring in a bathroom

Ok, A few things I have misunderstood here. I thought you wanted a bomb proof solution for tiling on. That's why I suggested extra noggins and NMP. If you want extra strength I would suggest you follow others replacing chipboard with ply. I did both under my bath using chipboard flooring with...

Overboard Chipboard Flooring in a bathroom

I spanned every joist with noggins, then no more ply. Solid as concrete after 10 years. No more ply screws are rubbish, use gyprock screws with countersink.

Wall hung toilet on paramount board

I did not attach it to the existing wall. It is connected only to the floor and ceiling joists. If you mean how did I fix the new plaster board boxing in I attached Plywood to the new Unistrut / timber frame and then attached the plaster board to that.

Wall hung toilet on paramount board

The Toilet frame is bolted down to the silver Unistrut frame I built. You will see the cross member at floor level in the first picture. I had the luxury of ripping up the whole floor due to water damage so why not. I would imagine it would be fine on the floor providing it is good order. I tied...

Wall hung toilet on paramount board

I used this product tied to joists above and below. P1001T | Unistrut Probably a bit over the top but I worried that even a proper timber partition would not do it. The instruction said solid brick / block wall. All I had like you was a Paramount Partition.

    3 speed extractor fan

Wired line to the connection marked High on the fan and Neutral to the one marked N. Because I do not know how the 3 speed switch functions I was wondering if it was-- Speed 1>low only. Speed 2>Line to low and med terminals. Speed 3>Line to all 3 terminals. Is this likely? It could be the fan is...

20 years ago when I bought this house and a new washing machine I was getting a shock touching the washing machine metal case. Electric shock!

It sounds like a problem I had with my new washing machine when I first moved into my current house. It turns out that the socket had lost its earth wire. infract all of the wires for all conductors to sockets in the kitchen were just in the terminals without being screwed tight. I suspect the...

Thanks guys, should have looked myself. I wonder how the cheap import chargers on the horizon will play out with the extra complexity?

    Type-C USB

"The new Type-C USB also supports up to 100w power delivery and is capable of up to 10Gbps transfer speeds." Assuming it runs at the regular 5V dc, how can such a small connector handle 20A.

    Water stop tap

Thanks guys, due to its location I will probably leave as is. It feels like it has collapsed inside. The resistance to closing is defiantly mechanical not crud. Is this the usual method of failure? Is it possible to replace all the internals without removing the valve? This I could do. Regards

    Water stop tap

My gate pattern water stop cock valve under my kitchen unit will not shut off. It always felt a bit rough when operating but now seams to jam solid before the flow is stopped. I have a working quarter turn valve under the garden and have bought the tool to reach this. Is this situation ok or...
