"The new Type-C USB also supports up to 100w power delivery and is capable of up to 10Gbps transfer speeds."

Assuming it runs at the regular 5V dc, how can such a small connector handle 20A.

Bad assumption. My understanding is that the "100W" is 5A at 20V.

Kind Regards, John

Thanks guys, should have looked myself.
I wonder how the cheap import chargers on the horizon will play out with the extra complexity?

Without getting involved with the more complicated Power Delivery protocols, the cable can still provide 3A at 5V (from a suitable source) with very simple (resistive) signalling, so cheap chargers still remain feasible.
