Looking for suitable 2 coil relay 2 pole relay to fix C plan boiler control issue

Hi Hugh, I guess I didn't research things quite as thoroughly as I should in the first place. I decided replacing the original sunvic 2 port valve would be the easiest solution from a plumbing point of view. It is fitted in the small space inside the chimney cavity by the back boiler so not easy...

Help identifying make / model of bath trap

If it helps anyone else I finally got round to removing this trap to take a look see what was the problem. As cozzmic said the plug is controlled by a strong magnet which repels the plug when it is positioned directly under the plug by means of a lever controlled in turn by the cable and dial...

Looking for suitable 2 coil relay 2 pole relay to fix C plan boiler control issue

Hi, in my new home I inherited a non fully functioning Baxi gravity HW pumped CH system. There was a 2 port Sunvic valve in the gravity feed that had no actuator fitted and was seized solid in the open position. There was no tank stat fitted either. I wanted to gain control of the cylinder HW...

Help identifying make / model of bath trap

An Ideal Standard waste it is :) Seems it's part of their water saving low level bath range. I've found the attached image on a 'concept' install instruction guide. Is there a new direct replacement spare part for this, that operates using the same concept without the need for an overflow...

Help identifying make / model of bath trap

Hi squeaky, thanks for the reply, I was guessing it has people stumped :( Unfortunately there are no identifying marks on what I can see. From what I can see there is no overflow. I think this trap / device is some sort of zero water thing with a diaphragm.

Help identifying plumbing fitting under sink in kitchen

Great thanks - you learn something every day :) I'm going to be taking out the dish washer which is only a 3/4 job and really no use to me. I'll use the space for the water softener, as there isn't room under the sink as it is.

Help identifying plumbing fitting under sink in kitchen

Hi, I've just moved into a new house and I'd like to find out what this grey box thing with a knob with three red lines on it is, that is fitted under the sink (make and model if possible). There is a dish washer to the left. . It is plugged into mains socket - I'm not sure if it is a water...

Help identifying make / model of bath trap

Please can someone help me identify the make and model of bath trap that has been fitted in the property I've just moved into. I've attached a few photo's. It is a low profile thing that has 2 flexible tubes running up the top of the bath and also a cable running up to a knob on top of bath by...

    Drayton mid position valve MA1

My MA1 had started to make the occasional buzzing noise, as though it were having difficulty in changing position. I took the Actuator off to check for free movement in the valve spindle, as I have done before on other 3 ways. Whilst the movement was easy I was surprised how little movement...

In hind-site this thread could have gone very differently, along the lines of... OP Q1) Hello, my boiler has been making a bit of a banging noise at the end of each heat cycle for a little while. It is now making what I'd describe as a groaning noise shortly after firing, progressing to...

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

What I really would appreciate is some comments on the photo I've posted of the heat exchanger, and comments on whether it really is possible from the very superficial outside surface look the engineer made to determine there was a problem with the heat exchanger and it would need replacing.

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

Exactly gas_man_gas, unfortunately this is a prime example where I think I've been let down by the engineer. I really don't think I can trust him at all! Regardless of whether all the work might need to be done again if the exchanger needs replacing - I paid for a service, which should at least...

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

Well it's looking that way (it was actually £69) but you are right they will no doubt know from this guys report that there is a problem with the heat exchanger, so not accept the fixed cost repair option. I'm not sure I got clear advise on the best cause of action. My earlier post pointed to...

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

OK, so the engineer has been - he was here for all of 30 minutes. It was quite a surreal experience actually. I'm not sure if he had psychic powers, after he removed the boiler covers (without first conducting the flue gas test as specified in the servicing procedure),he deduced by looking at...

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

I appreciate your sentiments garfeild, I know there are exceptions to every rule - as is shown by the very helpful tradespeople on this forum, for whom I am grateful, believe me. Unfortunately there have been enough cases of dodgy boiler engineers appear on Rouge Traders to make the general...

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

Don't worry on reading through it I won't, so that has been a good exercise to find that doc. It's nice to know what is involved, I don't like just handing over cash blind, especially to tradesmen. I work on the general adage 'if you want a job doing properly do it yourself'. Unfortunately...

Thanks pp, will do. But the magic words "insulation boards" in combination with icos managed to turn up this http://www.idealboilers.com/docs/pdf/icos_he_users_guide.pdf :-) That looks like it should help if I do decide to have a tinker ;-)

Ideal Icos M3080 dismantling / opening instructions

Ideal's web site direct people to Warmsure for servicing (http://www.warmsure.com/warmsure_service.html). Is that what is being recommended then? I did have to completely strip down the engine on my first car a Triumph 1500TC, to get the crank reground and fit new shell bearings and I had a...
