Do I have 3 phase in my 1930s built house?

I think the posts on here show that everybody does exactly that. Possibly with the exception of yourself.

Do I have 3 phase in my 1930s built house?

SSEPD is very similar, although it refers to these are "Special Loads". Neither contain a continuing obligation to inform them of changes after the connection is made. As well as BAS's point that a new owner or tenant isn't informed of the inventory declared when the property was first...

Do I have 3 phase in my 1930s built house?

Not trying to be pig headed. I must admit I didn't read the National Terms of Connection before signing with our supplier, but I have them the screen right now and I can't find any definition of what specific loads you need to ask permission for. It's not an easy document to read. Hence my...

Do I have 3 phase in my 1930s built house?

Our of interest what does your own supply contract say exactly about notifying and/or asking permission for special or abnormal loads? I'm not doubting that such conditions exist, but they are well hidden (in our case anyway) so wondered how clear they are in your own contract.

Karcher K4 Pressure Washer Leak (frost damage?)

Another quick question if you don't mind, what would be the right sort of grease to use when assembling? To hand I have general purpose silicone grease (nice and slippery), stuff called Turbogel that's a synthetic grease with teflon (as recommend for marine toilets). I don't have anything white.

Karcher K4 Pressure Washer Leak (frost damage?)

Cheers. One option is just to replace part 8 and the triangular O ring and see how it works. I'm just puzzled because the only visible damage on that part is just the crack in the detergent connection (which I don't think is even on the high pressure side), but water sprays out in all...

Karcher K4 Pressure Washer Leak (frost damage?)

Hi, Our K4 pressure washer has developed a fault since last use. The motor runs continuously when switched on, and it leaks from somewhere in and around the pump. The only apparent fault is a a crack in the pump housing where the detergent feed connects just above the figure "8" in the...

    Removing 2 way switch.

Looks to me like the "Grey" is a sheathed single core, going to Common on the switch. Then Red and Black-with-red sleeve coming from L1 and L2.

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

I pretty much came to that conclusion as soon as I found the problem only applied when undoing. For some reason it had never occurred to me to even try it for tightening. And I was misled by suggestions that the airflow was insufficient, hence the thing lying unused for some time until I got...

    Demand Letter

So will the contractor give a witness statement describing the cable as found (ie a cable end not properly terminated), and/or describing the works carried out by the DNO (ie putting a proper termination onto the end and reburying?

    Demand Letter

So their description of the work is completely different to yours. Did anyone other than you witness the work? It's just that blanking off a dead end and reburying is so blatantly different from joining in a 3m section of new cable. They must be thinking of a different job. Can you...

    Broken PEN conductor

Was that clarified as such? Comments that I saw suggested that it would apply to TNS as well.

Wiring Hive Smart Thermostat to Combi Boiler

No. However isn't the Hive receiver double insulated?

    Earthing a water pipe??

Isn't that the same case discussed a few pages back, Emma Shaw? I don't know how authoritative it is, but there's a thread on IEEE which gives a bit more detail http://www.theiet.org/forums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=205&threadid=57216

Mains socket with USB built in

I don't think people actually want dangerous items, but I'm pretty sure they have no idea how little there is to protect them if buying direct from outside the UK or EU. As an example there's a guy I know who bought one of these crap USB sockets, we were examining it and he was of the opinion...

Mains socket with USB built in

I saw this linked on another forum, an example of what you might get buying from China via Ebay. If you can't be bothered to watch the summary is flakey USB charging performance, but most seriously it has two earth terminals, one for each socket and not interconnected.

    New FB RCCB tripping

Do other appliances work OK in that same socket? Does the microwave still trip the RCD if it's connected to a different socket, or a socket on a different circuit?

Add an extra socket in stud wall?

More complex but I'd be tempted to wire it into the lighting circuit, changing the switch to a double, and fitting a 5A lighting socket vertically below the switch.

Screwing in bulb temporarily kills power in cables

Why not just a double pole switch, for example http://www.discount-electrical.co.uk/product.php/393262694/hager-wmdp84-sollysta-white-moulded-double-pole-switch-20a

    Armoured Cable

Aside from the electrical question, remember to put a cord through the duct before you bury it, so the cable can be pulled through.
