Is Stelrad really better than Kudox? The specs seem to say no?

Thanks for elaborating Lower, wasn't insinuating anything, just felt I had to report on the matter as I asked with Kudox directly! Then that goes to show how unaware they are (unless something has changed recently in their production process) as I was asking about the standard panel cover...

Is Stelrad really better than Kudox? The specs seem to say no?

Just to reports the facts, I have contacted Kudox and they are stating their rads are powder coated too!

Is Stelrad really better than Kudox? The specs seem to say no?

@ianmcd agree warranty wouldn't most likely be honoured, however I usually use that as an indicator of how confident is a manufacturer with their product. Anyway, my dilemma still stands: exactly what aspects make Stelrad being regarded as a superior radiator manufacturer than SF own brand...

Is Stelrad really better than Kudox? The specs seem to say no?

Hey all, I am aware that Stelrad is a more renowned radiator brand than the own brand SF ones, Kudox. However, when I look at the spec for the same typology and size of radiator, I see that: Kudox has more BTU Kudox has a 15y guarantee, Stelrad 10y only Kudox has a greater max working...

    on waterproofing (victorian) foundations

well, I'm glad the three replies I received are all in sync with my gut feeling! @ted456 I think I had a whole thread going on at the end of last year, will see if I can find it; not much as changed in all these long months, haven't done any more digging or other. We are just getting geared up...

    on waterproofing (victorian) foundations

what is the general consensus on applying a waterproof render on the foundation of a (victorian terraced) house? Background: frontroom is damp (water pooling on the bare ground below floor level, plaster in walls close the the water pool is blown). We are in the process of digging away clay-ish...

    any 22mm garden tap?

Thanks all really for the inputs. In the end I bought the 3/4 tap from TS so I could connect it straight to the 22mm water feed from the mains. Didn't want to invest in 22mm hoses and accessories just yet, so I bought a 1/2 inch male threaded connector, sawn off the threaded bit, made it all...

150mm cooker hood duct, is a reducer very noisy? + duct material

Insightful article, sometimes I wished I studied physics at uni! (probably I would have hated it). I believe that explanation back the theory I heard about a reducer increasing noise, as the air needs to travel at higher speeds and it will create turbulence on the choke of the reducer

150mm cooker hood duct, is a reducer very noisy? + duct material

Alas the 170mm core bit from TS that you are referring to is 170mm in length, the max diameter is 162mm which I fear it is going to be too tight. When I speak to hire places, they quote core bits in inches, so they have either a 6 inch (152mm) or 7 inch (177mm). The kit we bought from Wickes...

150mm cooker hood duct, is a reducer very noisy? + duct material

Hi all, we have a second hand Britannia cooker hood which comes with an outlet which is 150mm diameter. The external diameter of the duct is 160/162mm and we are struggling to find someone to core it for us, as hire places usually go only up to 6" in size (150mm). Industrial corers can do it...

    any 22mm garden tap?

having the option, I am simply trying to have a maximised flow for as long as possible in the water chain. So many options in this modern world!

    any 22mm garden tap?

thanks for confirming John, appreciated. Would have been gutted to do all the work in 15mm to then discover in some dark corner of the web that 22mm tap bib kits do exist!

    any 22mm garden tap?

yes that is what we want, but I cannot seem to find it, so I am starting to think it probably doesn't exist or it is not worth the hassle of finding it! :D

    any 22mm garden tap?

Thank you all for chipping in. I suppose I should have been clearer in my requirements, we are looking for something that has a neat look, i.e. something along those lines rather than a 22mm pipe coming out of the wall, 90 degrees elbow up into a 22mm compression wall plate elbow, onto which a...

    any 22mm garden tap?

Our water mains are in 22mm and if I wanted I could easily take a 22mm pipe through the wall to connect it to our garden tap (yet to be installed). I have done some due diligence and cannot find any garden tap which accepts a 22mm pipe, with a 22mm backplate and a 22mm non-return valve. Am I...

building a floating floor, the floor actually floats too much, how to push it down

Hi all, just to wrap this up. In the end I took a number of different approaches: 1. I have hammered some areas where there was a hump to compress it ever so slightly; I afterwards taped the damaged areas with insulation tape 2. similar to what Woody has said, I have cut on the underside of...

weird grinding/howling/airplane boiler noise, appears only when Hot Water is demanded..NOT kettling!

Thanks for the advises. @terryplumb getting the engineer back it is not an option I am afraid, unless I want to dash out some more money, which at this moment I rather not @The Novice there is no other taps dripping / running when any one tap is open or when all the taps are closed; I don't...

Decking garden prior to rendering outside house

Hey all Our house will need to be rendered at the back anytime soon-ish as we have scratch coats here and there ( and besides being unsightly, we think they could lead to rain water ingress!??) We been living in a building site for the last six months and we don't see the external render...
