    110V Transformer for Workshop

Ridgid gave me a one line answer "You will need a power inverter".

    110V Transformer for Workshop

OK, I will contact Ridgid. Interestingly 110V/50Hz is the power supply used in Barbados. I wonder if they have problems obtaining routers? Andy

    110V Transformer for Workshop

So far I haven't found a reasonably priced trim/laminate router in the UK that accepts precision collets for low runout. I'm still looking though. I posted on here looking for feedback. What is your opinion? There seems to be two clear camps of thought. Those that think it will kill the...

    110V Transformer for Workshop

Thanks, yes, I understand that. I have some CNC-related accessories that are specific to this router that will be expensive/difficult to replace. For £22 I'm willing to take the risk in running the wrong frequency. Any thoughts on how it can be connected up? Thanks, Andy

    110V Transformer for Workshop

I have a router I brought from the US. It doesn't have an earth pin, only a live and neutral. Requires 650W. I will be using it in my shed. I am looking at getting a step-down transformer. Cost of a 1000W one is £70 and the product descriptions are a bit vague about continuous use...

    Worcester Bosch 40Cdi Bad Vibration

Thanks for the responses. I think I will just get my local plumber to check the flue gases on min and install the seal. It's probably worth paying them just to keep Help-Link away. BTW both techs from Help-Link turned up at different times with the wrong cleaning brush. It looked more like...

    Worcester Bosch 40Cdi Bad Vibration

I thought you guys would get a good laugh out of my situation. So Help-Link came out with the wrong cleaning kit. The instructions state that if the heat exchanger cleaning panel is removed then the seal has to be replaced - but they didn't have one. Tech 1 says I need a 15/60 pump and it...

    Worcester Bosch 40Cdi Bad Vibration

They checked working pressures and the fan negative pressure and used a flue analyzer. They say the boiler is working normally. They mentioned that the gas pressure drops from 20+mb to 15mb when the boiler is ramping up. At first they said it was strange then they said it was normal! We...

    Worcester Bosch 40Cdi Bad Vibration

So my four year old boiler (conventional) has developed a very bad vibration. When it is heating up and when it is shutting down it sounds like a dirt bike. The service people are stumped. They have changed the fan and the bearing plate and it didn't help. Worcester's only suggestion is to...

    Fernox TF1 and Weak Rads

It is an open system. I'm not sure how bad the sludge was - first time with one these filters so I don't know what to compare it to. The plastic tube that covers the magnets was completely covered in sludge several mm thick. The pin under the TRV moves. The idiot who put this radiator...

    Fernox TF1 and Weak Rads

He was running late very late that day so ran out of work hours I guess... anyway I'd like to understand the system better myself so what about the questions I posted? Thanks, Andy

    Fernox TF1 and Weak Rads

Yeah... they installed it four years ago also... Are you saying they are useless?

    Fernox TF1 and Weak Rads

Hello, I've owned the house for two months. Worcester Bosch 40CDi installed four years ago, 13 rads, detached solid brick Victorian. The boiler was serviced by Help-Link a month ago. Just over a week ago the rad in the kitchen started working intermittently. It would either turn on in the...

    Restoring a Victorian Fireplace

Thanks. The problem is that the metal frame I have is not the same shape as any of those firebacks. So I would have to rip it out which I am reluctant to do. Andy

    Restoring a Victorian Fireplace

Hello, I recently bought a 1902 house and one of the fireplaces was bricked up. I had a builder open it up and what we found can be seen in the pictures attached. My current research leads me to think that this fireplace had firebrick panels that went into the metal frame. Could that be...

    Confused by Thermostat

Sorry to hear you have a similar problem. :( I currently have a Drayton Digistat+RF. Is there another make & model digital thermostat that can work with the existing Drayton RF receiver? Andy

    Confused by Thermostat

Hi Jack, The problem seems to me that the hall is currently the warmest room in the house, when I want it to be the coldest. Andy

    Confused by Thermostat

Bolder was serviced. Service person tells me that the boiler is the right size and everything is working fine. The temperature dial on the boiler goes from 1 to 6 and then after 6 there is a dashed line to "max". He told me that I need to have it on max all the time because it is a large...
