How to upgrade Texecom Premier Elite 640 from v3 for SmartCom and HomeAssistant?

I wasn't clear, apologies. I'm using 5 networks out of the 8, and have been for a few years. I have 12 keypads and various expanders spread across those networks. I use 10 areas. I normally delete the wireless devices through the "Learn Ricochet" menu not on the Zone Setup menu - was just...

How to upgrade Texecom Premier Elite 640 from v3 for SmartCom and HomeAssistant?

Ah, thank you SecureIAM, To delete the zones, should I do that via the Keypad Richchet menu or just set to not used in Wintex? Do I need to upgrade to 4 then 5? or go straight to 5? I therefore need to ask Texecom for 1. Panel Firmware v4 and v5 2. Wintex upgrade 3. What about wireless...

How to upgrade Texecom Premier Elite 640 from v3 for SmartCom and HomeAssistant?

I have this panel on v3, with around 70 zones including 1 wireless expander. I've been using it with a ComIP and usb serial interfaces for Wintex and home automation. I'm changing to Homeassistant for my automation, so need to upgrade to use Smartcom and the new app. I have also bought a...

Planning to tank a wall. How to deal with ducts?

I have a single skin shed that was built for me as a bit of an afterthought amongst other renovations. It is built on top of a patio. The other side of this block wall is soil. In between the shed wall and soil is a membrane, then another single skin wall about 1m height, then the higher ground...

DIN rail Terminal Blocks - home automation - best layout?

Thank you all for the inspiration. Here's what I ended up doing for the lighting in the new extension. All switches and feeds to lights home runned into the box. Zwave or relays, or other dimmers to go on the upper DIN rail eventually.

Looking for Dimmable downlights with separate connections for colour - Warm white, daylight.

To answer my own question, I ended up using these https://www.collingwoodlighting.com/en/thea-16w They have a separate plug in box in between the fixture and the power supply. This plug in box has a switch on it to change the colour temperature. I will create a replacement plug in box with a...

TT installation - Why is there a minimum size requirement for earth conductors?

I will ask him why he wants to change the cable. Before I do, here is a pic of the rod. Would you say it was protected against mechanical damage and corrosion? Cheers.

TT installation - Why is there a minimum size requirement for earth conductors?

Existing is 10mm2 from rod to MET and plan was to change it to 16mm2.

TT installation - Why is there a minimum size requirement for earth conductors?

I have 2 RCD/RCBOs between the tails and the end of each circuit cable - a 30mA/ms and a 100mA/ms. So both would need to fail I think to get a current > 100mA ish for longer than it takes the RCD to trip.

TT installation - Why is there a minimum size requirement for earth conductors?

Discussing some work with an electrician including upgrading the tails from 16mm2 to 25mm2 We are on a TT system. All circuits are protected by 30mA/30ms RCBO or RCD as well as 100mA/100ms Type S as the main switch on the CU. He said that the cable going to the earthing point needed to be...

Looking for Dimmable downlights with separate connections for colour - Warm white, daylight.

Looking for smart lighting for a new kitchen + diner. All lights will be individually wired back to a control box with relays and or dimmers. Home automation system is HomeSeer. I want to use relays to select the colour temperature of the lights. While cooking, I want a "cooking" scene, with...

How to remove circlip from SDS drill chuck?

Thanks John, yes I tried that, but couldn't get the blades behind the ring. I'll give it another try. I don't mind getting a tool to do it if necessary. I expect the ring will ping off somewhere and be lost anyway, so my next question would be where can I get another one!? Edit:- Oh I've just...

How to remove circlip from SDS drill chuck?

A drill bit snapped off inside the chuck of my Titan drill. I need to remove the split ring around the chuck in the photo. I do have some circlip pliers but they are designed for circlips with flat ends and holes. How can I remove this ring? Cheers.

SWA to T&E. Moving a plastic junction box. Gland and banjo question

OP back again. The new SWAs are laid to the far end, but there's been diggers working in the area so I want to test the cables. They are terminated into boxes but not connected to anything. I have a multimeter. The r1+r2 testing seems aimed at rings where both ends of the ring terminate in the...

SWA to T&E. Moving a plastic junction box. Gland and banjo question

Other questions. At the far end the armour is not going to be connected to earth, so what is the reason for using a brass gland in the plastic box? Just mechanical support? Would a Nylon gland be ok? Does the answer change depending on whether the box is indoors or outdoor? Cheers.

SWA to T&E. Moving a plastic junction box. Gland and banjo question

Progress so far. I did test the spacing with a piece of card before drilling the box, and I can just get the spanner on and rotate the nut. But yes it is tight, and I hadn't allowed for the thickness of 2 dust covers next to each other. I made a template in Draw, printed it out, pritt-stuck it...

Replace tails from cutout to meter?

Yes currently fine, but we're building an extension which will have a new kitchen and electric shower, as well as potentially EV charging at some point in the future. I'll call Bulb next week and see how I get on... Thanks for all the replies

Replace tails from cutout to meter?

I have a 60A service fuse and 16mm tails from cutout to meter. I have 25mm tails from meter to isolator and from isolator to CU. I paid the DNO to move the overhead supply cable to underground. They would have replaced the fuse with a 100A at the same time, but didn't because of the 16mm tails...

SWA to T&E. Moving a plastic junction box. Gland and banjo question

Here's the old box. Here's my new box mounted on the other wall with one of the 16mm2 cables moved across to try the layout. I'm going to have to redo the gland because the armour has come away. What size should the earth tag cable be? Is 2.5mm2 ok? These circuits all have RCD protection...
