Thanks for your replies. I pushed down on the TRV pin and that moves freely, also opened up lock shield fully, but no luck. Do you think sludge is causing a restriction in the flow?

Don't know if anyone can advise what to do. Have two radiators which will not heat up, the lock shield valves are hot but the rads are cold. The TRVs are bi-directional Danfoss units and have been turned up for max heat. All other rads in the house work ok. I have also gone through the process...

For about a year my boiler (baxi solo HE18) periodically locks out, works ok after resetting for another couple of weeks before doing again then again before reset doesn't work. Engineer comes out, cleans electrodes which seem pretty clean when he showed me and all works well again for 3-4...

The valve is an Danfoss HPA2. Is there anyway I could check the microswitch? Or is this a pro's only check? Thanks

Thanks for this. I just turned the system back on and as usual the boiler fired up (timer showing as off) I then pushed the lever on the hot water actuator from Auto to Manual, the heating 'noise' in the airing cupboard got quieter but the boiler continued to stay on...? Is this what you would...

Thought I would update in case anybody else finds this useful. I sorted the problem in the end, it was no big deal. After a bit of internet searching it appears I had not tightened the bolts holding on the combustion chamber cover sufficiently; this I have now done and all works well.

Hmmm... I realise I have made a mistake; so will get an engineer in to fix now. I was so careful when I opened up the combustion chamber though... Out of morbid curiosity, is there a formal procedure for accessing the combustion chamber? I guess its not the case of unscrewing it, taking it off...

Ok from the front aspect there are two dormers approx 2.5 X 1.5meters, back aspect one dormer 3 X 1.5m and lower flat roof extension 6 x 2.5m All felt covered at present, only the extension has a gutter, decking and upstands ok as far as I can tell Thanks
