How much ventilation under floor is enough?

Thanks, so are you saying the finer the better? I was about to buy this: Baling twine Wasn’t sure how thick or how big the gaps should be.

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

Could anyone suggest how thick the twine should be and the spacing needed to stop the insulation sagging? It’s Knauf 44 100mm. Thanks

Thermal rolls to help with sound insulation?

No, just the ceiling rose. But where I’ve installed down lights in the bathroom I’ve used LED ones with a guard and left a bit of space around them.

Thermal rolls to help with sound insulation?

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps not the best but better than a void

Thermal rolls to help with sound insulation?

Hi I’ve got some Knauf 44 thermal insulation rolls left over and I know they don’t have acoustic properties but is there any point in putting it in the void between the kitchen and the bedroom to help absorb the sound of clattering pots and pans? It’s a deep void so even doubling up the...

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

What about something like this, cut to a couple of inches wider than the joist centres. Staple it to the side of the joists so it forms a cradle? That said, I only took a couple of boards up to install a radiator, insulating it will mean getting the lot up!

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

Thanks. I suppose I should be calculating the entire void, and not just the room. A couple more should do it.

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

I think I'll tackle it myself first, I can't be doing with Building Regs and Social Services on my back ;)

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

As regards clearing the rubble, there's all sorts down there. Can bricks and the like stay? All in all it's cold down there but not musty.

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

Thans Deluks, I'll give it a go. I do have sleeper walls elsewhere, but the gaps are brick size, in a chequered pattern. I hadn't thought of insulation but now you mention it.... I presume it'd have to be PIR board? What's the minimum thickness I could get away with for it to make a...

How much ventilation under floor is enough?

Hello I've currently got some floorboards up in a ground floor utility room room which wasn't previously heated but soon will be. In the external cavity wall there's an air brick to the outside. I can't see from the inside but I can stretch towards it and feel a draught so I assume it's...

12.5 tiles high, how to cut.

Thanks for the replies, it's all food for thought because there are a few factors in play . The shower is on the long wall, but the bath is lengthways across the short wall, and is what you see when you walk in. The shower will be on your left. The side of the bath is against a half-height...

12.5 tiles high, how to cut.

Hi Need some advice please. The wall height in the shower area, taking account of the floor tile, is 253cm. It's a level shower and the plan is to drop the tiling to approx 5 tiles high in the non wet area. The tile height is 20cm so taking account of the grout (2-3mm?) it'd be approx...

Start by tiling outwards from drain?

Thanks. I will when I buy them but I was hoping for a steer in advance so I can think about the overall layout and what the priorities are e.g. shower envelopes, equal edge tiles, centre line as you walk in. Just not sure. If it differs from room to room that’s fine but it was seeing the...

Start by tiling outwards from drain?

Thanks. It's a wetroom former so as long as I'm consistent and follow the envelope cuts it should slope. What I'm trying to work out is a tile layout that ensures the grout lines are correct. I'm just struggling to visualise them!

Start by tiling outwards from drain?

Um, I'm getting a bit confused. Looking online, it seems that tilers start with the corners of four tiles meeting over the centre of the drain, as opposed to my idea of one tile dead centre over the drain. Does it matter?

Start by tiling outwards from drain?

Hello Trying to plan the layout of envelope tiles on a wetroom floor. It’s an Impey Aquadec Easy fit with 4 envelope cuts. I’m using 20cm tiles. Am I right to start laying the from the drain outwards? I’ve got the drain equidistant from two cuts, which is as good as it gets with an...
