Unable to unscrew a shower hose from the unit

I’m trying to replace a shower hose from the underside of the mixer as it’s leaking. I’m unable to get a sufficiently tight grip on the thread despite trying to use an adjustable spanner, players and other devices. How is this type of problem overcome? I’ve tried spraying wd40 on the inside a...

    Roof tiles fallen down

Had a few roof tiles that have slipped and fallen down in the last few months. Just wondered, how are replacement tiles fitted when upper ones overlap the ones below ie are they nailed down but how do you lift the ones above them? Also can they do this without scaffolding for the odd few tiles?

Pressure testing a wet underfloor heating system

What do you mean “then factor in”? So if the boiler is 1 bar, does that mean my UFH needs no more then one bar pressure?

Pressure testing a wet underfloor heating system

I will run several wet UFH circuits (ground floor to be screeded system and 1st and 2nd floor pro-fix panels and then to be screeded / levelling compound). Is it best to pressure test these? If so, what pressure does UFH normally operate at, is it between 1 and 2 bars like a boiler? The above...

27 door linings - which softwood?

What does it mean 1st, 2nds thirds etc. Also I dont understand this concept of "unsorted". That's supposed to be a good thing but I would have thought unsorted means "you get a pile of ****" because its not categorised accordingly!?

27 door linings - which softwood?

What about redwood? Is redwood different from southern yellow pine? Which is better out of the two (assuming they are different)?

27 door linings - which softwood?

Not necessarily, you can go to a joinery firm (which I am doing) to have made up what you want rather than some cheap Wickes rubbish.

27 door linings - which softwood?

I need to fit 27 door linings as part of my home renovation project. Will opt for soft wood to save on cost. Whats the most cost effective softwood to go for which has minimal knots in. One merchant offered me the choice between redwood, southern yellow pine or some other pine I forget the...

    Door lining thickness

So what makes the lining itself 30 min fire protective if it is not just the 30mm thickness itself? Assuming you also go for the strips then that should help but the strips dont make the lining any better.

    Door lining thickness

Thanks for the feedback. Why ball bearing fire door hinges? How do they different from normal hinges? And I guess 3 hinges per door is norm? What thickness have you usually gone for, 30mm or 32mm?

    Door lining thickness

I've got a lot of doors to change. As I will have interlinked smoke alarms in each room I am not required to fit FD30 doors but I have chosen to fit them anyway due to the sold feel. Is 30mm generally sufficient to take the weight of these doors (3 hinges)? Will probably opt for softwood...

Replacing fence with a larger size but using smaller posts

Yes, thanks aware of the pp rules re height. What if the same size posts were used by trellis increasing the height of the fence. Can the trellis be correctly supported? How are the supported, simply by screwing down to the top of the fence line?
