Possible to use close couple cistern as low level?

I have a very small bathroom. The position of the soil pipe, bath, window etc means that space is at a premium and dictates that the low level cistern and sink are mounted on the same wall. At present I have a thin but wide space saving low level cistern and a basin so small half the water...

    artex ceiling & asbestos

I suspect the artex finish on my bathroom ceiling may contain asbestos as my house was built in 1969 and the ceiling looks original. I had planned to just screw plasterboard over the top but I really need to install an extractor fan over the shower which would require cutting a hole in the...

external corner cut on plinth URGENT HELP REQUIRED!

Regarding the veneer getting chipped I discovered that placing masking tape over where you're about to cut can help prevent splintering. I also found that cutting in certain directions also helped prevent splintering. i.e. if the saw spins through the veneer outwards it rips it up more than...

What's the best way to cut through floor boards?

I'm adding a couple of plug sockets in my bedroom and need to lift up several sections of floor board in order to do this. They interlock and also run under a partition wall. Previously when needing to lift floor boards I've drilled a hole over a floor joist and used a jigsaw blade, shortened...

Teba oven cooling fan doesn't run?

According to the destructions "when the oven is turned off after use, the oven cooling fan will continue to work for a short period of time". I wonder if it's the same fan only without the heat to circulate or maybe it runs in reverse?! On the next occasion it does run I'll have a look...

Teba oven cooling fan doesn't run?

I've had my Teba oven just over a year now and the cooling fan seems to rarely come on anymore. Instead of the fan I now get a hum that seems to last for the duration the cooling fan should be running. This is rather worrying as I've only just finished my kitchen and don't want it to burnt...

Do attractive air vent covers exist?!

Does anyone know where I can buy attractive internal air vent covers? The existing covers in my house are looking very tired and are unfortunately located in rather prominent positions. I've looked in B&Q, Wickes, Homebase etc who have a reasonable range but none I'd really want staring me...

What height for air brick installation?

Thanks for the advice, I didn't think of installing the vents behind the radiators. I think I'll give that a go and use sleeves as I do have a cavity wall. The gas boiler is upstairs where, opposite to downstairs, there is a vast number of air bricks..... Thanks again.

What height for air brick installation?

The way my house has been converted means there is very little airflow downstairs. I was thinking about installing 3 airbricks in 3 rooms (1 per room) to hopefully rectify this? Does the height I install the air bricks make a difference to the level of ventilation they provide? Whilst I'm on...
