    Supporting wall design liability

Because a dense concrete block was specified. I don't consider a thermalite block to be a dense concrete block?

    Supporting wall design liability

Yes he did the calcs himself. The drawings were checked and approved by b/c. The structural engineer is sourced by me. I personally think its fine. Its tied into the roof by way of wooden batterns, the wall is also tied into the perpendicular wall that runs above it and there is a 100mm block...

    Supporting wall design liability

OK. So I am having issues with a supporting wall I have built as part of my extension. Let me start from the beginning.. I receive plans a year ago and start sourcing suppliers etc. Notice that the main supporting wall is specified as being a 150mm dense concrete block wall. None of the...

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

All wired in and seems to work a treat. My box is like spaghetti junction inside but will tidy up later. Thanks for help.

    Large format tiling

Hi, I have 40m2 of extension joined onto about 30m2 of the existing house that I want to tile with somthing like 60x60 tiles. Both parts have underfloor heating and the extension was screeded with sand and cement about 4 weeks ago now. The whole floor is level over the 12meters but wouldn't...

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

Brill will give it a go. Presumably find a decent box for all wires and about 15 wire holes. Just mount relay on a din rail?

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

This is what I was expecting but was hoping not to have to get so involved with the relay mounting/wiring! Was hoping for somthing a bit more off the shelf. Presumably what I'm doing is fairly normal.

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

I don't think it works like that but I am not 100% sure tbh

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

I would have thought it's an electrical question. A plumber wouldn't wire this would they?

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

Underfloor heating works at lower temps than the 70 degrees that the boiler spits out. So a manifold with a blending valve is used to keep the temperature to the ufh at whatever its set to. So the main pump is used to circulate the 70 degree water to the manifold/blender. The second pump mounted...

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

The underfloor heating has a seperate pump for circulation but also uses the main pump to add hot water to the circuit so both need to be switched on... Easy no problems.... So the live from the zone valve goes to both pumps and the boiler to turn them all on. However the zone valve for the rads...

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

I'm after a wiring center. If one of the radiator zone valves is opened a live (orange) is sent to pump/boiler however this will also turn the ufh circulation pump on. How do I stop this?

Central heating wiring with ufh plus rads

Hi all, I'm not quite sure what the neatest, simplest solution to my central heating wiring. I have 4 zones. Two radiator zones, a hot water and an underfloor heating zone. My understanding is that when the radiator zones are turned on, the ufh pump should not come on so should be isolated...

    Existing base vs new extension

I think I read somewhere that the heating on a new screed can come on after 30 days. I was thinking of turning heating on after 30 days and installing tiles after 60 days. Does this sound reasonable? I think most tile adhiesives can be used directly on a screeded floor after cleaning

    Existing base vs new extension

I thought a liquid Dpm can be applied before screed is fully dry so that a leveller and finished floor can be added. I've read that it can speed up the process. I already have the cement so not going to use Mapai Top Cem plus its about 4 times the price!! Might as well use a flow screed if you...

    Existing base vs new extension

Hi all, I have built a 40m2 extension with a beam and block floor, 100mm insulation, and layed some ufh pipes. Will be sand and cement screeding this week. We will be bringing the screed up to the two rooms we have knocked through into. I think we are going to want 600x600 tiles layed in the...

    Floor screed qty/mix

My cousin is a plaster and he is going to do it. He would rather I did a flow screed but just looks way more expensive. £360 for sand and cement materials plus £340 for 26 bags of self leveller on top of it all is £700 ish without any labour. Flow screed is £1800 plus £80 for sand to bring...

    Floor screed qty/mix

I have an area of 10.8m x 3.6m x 80mm which I work out to be 3.11m3 of floor screed. Based on the fact that 15 bags of cement to 1m3 sharp sand to create 0.9m3 of screed I have worked out I need about 51 bags of cement and 5.2 tonnes of sand. Does this sound right to anyone in the know? Thanks

    Floor probe with wet ufh

Does the Heatmiser system do a wireless stat with a floor probe? I know that Wunda do one with an e-ink display (power saving) but would prefer to go with a more well known brand.
