    Reverse Circulation? (threads merged)

After further investigation , I notice that the rad in the upstairs bathroom may possibly be the problem causing this reverse circulation. This radiator is set up to work off the hot water and not the central heating which is not unusual. The return pipe from this radiator raises from beneath...

    Reverse Circulation? (threads merged)

I only ask as both the radiator return and cylinder return pipes connect to the main return pipe within the ceiling void between ground and first floors. This must mean that both connections must be very close together. Is this OK?

    Reverse Circulation? (threads merged)

Should there be a minimum length of return pipe between the cylinder return T and the radiator return T to prevent reverse circulation?

    Reverse Circulation? (threads merged)

Just to clarify, when you say 'the return from the hot water cylinder primary coil is the last connection on the system return before the boiler' you mean closest connection to the boiler on the return pipe - yes?

    Reverse Circulation? (threads merged)

Thanks for the response, Strangely, the plumber has said that it has been installed according to the 3-tee rule. Unfortunately, I can't confirm this as the pipe connections are hidden. If the connections to the return pipe are in the correct order as he says, is it reasonable that he does all of...

    Reverse Circulation? (threads merged)

Hi, I had a totally new S-Plan unvented CH system installed last year with new boiler, rads etc and now have a longstanding problem of upstairs rads getting warm when the HW is on/CH off. Apart from this, he has done a very neat job. My view is that it's poor pipework configuration and I have...

    Buildings Insurance Question

Guys, Thanks, exactly what I thought, as the claim is still open they are still responsible.

    Buildings Insurance Question

Apologies, I seem to have confused you. All the works (cosmetics and heating system) had been agreed with the insurance assessor at the outset of the claim. If they install a new heating system but take an age to complete their other works and the claim is still active, I would have thought they...

    Buildings Insurance Question

Hi, I have an ongoing insurance claim caused by water damage. It's mainly cosmetic but the central heating system did require replacing. The repair works carried out by the Insurance companies builder have been dragging on for ages and although the heating system was only completed about 13...

    Wood filler not setting

Great to know that it will go off eventually with a bit of warmth...thanks.

    Wood filler not setting

Hi, Thanks, Having used it and it failing I read that temperature is the main reason and shouldn't be used in low temps below about 15C. Mixture is the other reason as you say. I think I'll heat the room over night to see if that does the trick. If not, I guess it's a matter of scraping it all...

    Wood filler not setting

So my question is, is a night with a heater likely to cure this problem assuming the mix proportions are OK?

    Wood filler not setting

Stupidly, I wasn't too careful with the mix proportions but I did mix it well. Filler was new....

    Wood filler not setting

Hi, I have made some wood repairs using 2 pack resin wood repair paste in a quite cold unheated lean-to room. Now I've found that the repairs have not set, even after 24 hrs. I've had an idea to put a heater in the room hoping that this will trigger the necessary chemical reaction. Am I likely...

Filling a perimeter gap around floor tiles

Hi, Thanks, I'm thinking that skirting with some scotia to hide the gap will be the easiest and neatest solution.

Filling a perimeter gap around floor tiles

Thanks for the suggestion but the gap varies a bit in width so this tile solution may be a problem.

Filling a perimeter gap around floor tiles

The tiles are black, is there something out of a tube I can use or are there any other ideas??

Filling a perimeter gap around floor tiles

No, 30mm horizontal gap between walls and tiled floor.

Filling a perimeter gap around floor tiles

Thx, but I wasn't wanting to put any dry lining back but planning to skim and decorate the masonry walls. Just to be clear, this was a w/c in my lean-to which I'm planning to make into a kitchen larder.

Filling a perimeter gap around floor tiles

After some drylining was removed from the walls in a very small room of the house, a large gap remains around the tiled floor area. This perimeter gap ranges from 15 to 30mm between the tiles and walls. I appreciate that some sort of expansion gap must remain but what should I fill this gap...
