    PAT testing

Hi, I had a pipe burst in my kitchen a while back which caused a great deal of damaged to the contents. My insurer agreed to replace my fridge freezer but has refused to replace my dishwasher which was next door to it saying that it has been taken away and PAT tested. The dishwasher switches on...

    Lamona Microwave (Howdens)

Hi, Yes, your microwave is working as it should. My local Howdens were using the same micro in their kitchen area and both light and fan came on when the door was opened. Something to do with being an integrated micro I believe. HTH

Damp above and around Upstairs window

I'm presuming the roof is leaking as the felt at the eaves is disintegrating and allowing water to get behind the fascia. FYI, the tiles are the common concrete Marley interlocking type. I'm sure the problem is coming from the roof rather than wall or window.

Damp above and around Upstairs window

Hi, Not at the house at the moment but attached pic does show the roof in side elevation if it helps. The window in question is around the back and the roof felt is very much falling apart. I have considered water coming in around the frame or window but I'm pretty sure now that its the felt...

Damp above and around Upstairs window

Hi, I have a 100yrs + house with a leanto roof. The roof has no soffit, only a fascia board with a gutter connected to it and a great deal of damp is getting in above and around one of the upstairs windows. The gutter appears to be clear and running which flows directly above this window. I...

Lean-to roof leaking where soil stack passes through.

Thanks for this. Is a split boot the right way to go or am I putting off the inevitable and I should be replacing the stack. That said, can't seem to find a suitable split boot for a concrete tiled roof. Is there anyone out there who can point me in the direction of a suitable one? thanks....

Lean-to roof leaking where soil stack passes through.

Hi, I have a soil pipe which runs up the side of the house through a single story lean-to. I have the common problem of the lean-to roof leaking where the soil pipe passes through. What can I do to repair this problem as the standard rubber boot has to be installed from the top and I was trying...

    Underfloor heating only luke warm

Hi, Only trying to check that the UFH is working properly as its just been fitted. The main central heating isn't on as the house isn't being lived in yet. I think what you're saying is that the 24 degrees C is only likely to be hit once the central heating is on as well, correct?

    Underfloor heating only luke warm

Point taken, but as the thermostat is attached to the sensor in the floor, surely the temperature should raise to the 24 degrees C that its set to, especially after a fair few days of being on??

    Underfloor heating only luke warm

Just to be clear, at the moment the central heating is switched off. The UFH is set to 24 degrees manual and has only reached a max of c12 degrees C after 4 days. HTH

    Underfloor heating only luke warm

Builders are telling me that it takes several days for the UFH to heat up. At the moment, the thermo has been set at 24 degrees C on manual for the last 3 days and its only reached a max of 12 degrees C. Is what I'm being told acceptable? Several days to heat up doesn't sound to good to me for a...

    Washing machine inlet Connector pipe

Hi, Hope this pic makes sense or even uploads.. You can see that the plastic thumb push tabs obstructs the movement of the on/off tap but even if they are not there, the thickness of the screw cap also obstructs the tap movement.

    Washing machine inlet Connector pipe

Hi, I'm hoping there is a really obvious solution to this problem from those that know.... Just had the house replumbed with new isolator valves for a dishwasher and washing machine. The problem I have is that when the inlet hoses for both appliances are screwed to the isolator valves you...
