Do I need fire doors on every room if I have a loft conversion?

Thanks, I didnt realise I could replace like for like. The thing is the doors are falling apart and very low quality so they need replacing. I thought it would make sense to replace with fire doors for the small extra cost and added safety. But I didn't realise I had to possibly replace more...

Do I need fire doors on every room if I have a loft conversion?

Hi I have a room in the roof loft conversion in a mid terraced house in Bristol. It's all been done to regs about 20 years ago. I am renovating now, and need to change all the internal doors. I have read that if I do this then I may need fire doors as the rules have changed. I'm a bit confused...

Skirting boards not fixed properly at bottom?

Thanks, looks like the expanding PU foam has worked quite well, feels solid enough on its own. As they were already fixed at the top, I drilled art way down and then filled. A bit messy, but I can sand back and it should be fine! thanks

Skirting boards not fixed properly at bottom?

Thanks that's not a bad idea. I've squirted some expanding pu foam in a small section. I'll see if it feels solid after, if not then I think dowels will be the way to go. I guess I'd have to glue them in the hole so they don't slip through under pressure

Skirting boards not fixed properly at bottom?

That was the only idea I had too! I wrote that in my post...I guess I could test it on a section and see. It's hard to know how much, but I guess if I put a brick in front of it then the foam will not push it out

Skirting boards not fixed properly at bottom?

Hi I'm about to paint all the woodwork in my lounge. All the skirting appears to be fixed about two thirds of the way up each board, but I can push the bottom in about 10mm And then this of course means the top comes apart and cracks the paint/caulk. And it just feels bad! Is there a way to...

    Cleaning up old wooden floorboards?

Yeah I was planning to punch in any proud nails. Why would varnish be drought with peril. I sanded and varnished the same kind of floor in another room a few years ago and it came up ok. And thus floor has been varnished, not heavily though

    Cleaning up old wooden floorboards?

Ok thanks. I was only planning to make it look a bit better rather than get up all the marks etc. I thought maybe a belt sander might do it Is there a good solution to an uncovered floor like this? Some of the gaps are pretty big

    Cleaning up old wooden floorboards?

Hi, I have a Victorian terraced house with floorboards in the bedrooms. They aren't perfect by any means, wonky and random gaps but look nice to me. I'm refurbishing the house. Could anyone give advice on how I might make them look a little fresher or nicer? Obviously I can just give them a...

First time fitting LVT planks, help? :)

I called Karndean and they said you need to roll it with one of these once you've put the planks down, or it won't properly adhere. Or on big jobs they have a huge 45kg one, but this one you just lean all your weight on it ...

Patch plaster or feather and paint?

Hi I've ended up scraping back some loose flakey paintwork in my kitchen and lounge. I'm wondering if I should just sand the edges and paint it, or should I be looking to plaster these patches? The walls aren't exactly perfect everywhere anyway I have some multifinish, can I just skin a bit...

    Replacing triple switch with dimmer?

Hi My kitchen has 12 downlights, with a triple switch at the entrance, which turns different sections of the room, one of them only turns on and off two of the downlights which seems silly. There is also another switch by the garden door which turns on and off 5 downlights, the same as one of...
