Can you use brass compression joints directly onto plastic pipe?

I've been mulling over how I'm going to fit a brass diverter valve into an existing plastic pipe run to a concealed shower head without having to squeeze dozens of pipe accessories into the wall cavity. Reading around online I discovered it seems to be common/accepted practice to compression...

    Wiring for induction hob

Indeed - I leave it on all the time, I consider it to be an emergency measure, though how it could possibly be manually operated to resolve a dangerous situation any faster/safer than the RCD on the circuit, I have no idea. However it clearly states in my shower user/installation manual that...

    Wiring for induction hob

OK - there you have lost me. I thought it was a requirement to have a local isolation point for an appliance which was directly wired to the mains. That is not the case?

    Wiring for induction hob

Thanks. Is it a requirement to have a neon on a cooker switch?

    Wiring for induction hob

The flex outlet will be behind the oven unit. It will be accessible if you pull the oven out. The isolator will be accessible on the wall.

    Wiring for induction hob

Yes, good point, boarded up was the wrong description. I mean it will be replaced with a single flex outlet which will be behind the units, and wired from an accessible isolator.

    Wiring for induction hob

Currently have an electric double oven and gas hob. The oven is on a dedicated 32A radial circuit from the CU. Wired with 6mm T+E cable running in a bundle through free-air in the ceiling cavity for approx 10 meters, then clipped to thermalite block behind plasterboard for the last 2 meters to...

How to secure pebble sink to surface

Hi folks, I got this sink (see pics) from an ex-display auction so it came with no fitting instructions. Any ideas how you are supposed to secure this to the surface? Is it just by the drain hole thread? Do you glue it? The are no obvious fixing points on the base, is it perhaps meant to be...

Wiring remote switched sockets for Kitchen appliances

So the below is a perfectly acceptable kitchen ring? Do the remote switches for the sockets always need to be fused, or can you rely on the fact anything plugged into a single socket should be fused with a max 13A?

Wiring remote switched sockets for Kitchen appliances

A question on Kitchen appliance sockets When wiring accessible switches for hidden kitchen appliance sockets into a ring main, does the 'spur' from the DP switch/FCU (on the ring) down to the unswitched socket under the counter count as a spur for purposes of the maximum number of spurs? If so...

    Bedroom switching setup - 3way

Ah of course, so if I just make one of the bedside switches a 2-gang intermediate, but wire the side-lamp gang as a two-way, then I can use standard switches everywhere else. Perfect! Cheers.

    Bedroom switching setup - 3way

Not the for the first time, I've decided I want a 3-way in my bedroom. Just wondering, is it possible to wire a three-way light switching setup without an 'intermediate' type switch - i.e. just using standard 2-way switches? Reason being, I want multi-gang switches in all 3 locations and I...

    2-way switching existing light

Actually.... I think it is possible... because the existing switch is multi-gang and has other lives in it. If I pinch one of those Lives from another light to be the Live in the first switch, then use the existing 2-core as Common/Switched up to the rose, then use 3-core from there to the new...

    2-way switching existing light

Thanks - I guess I should have clarified I meant without having to change or run a new cable to the old switch. I was wondering if there was a way of doing it at the ceiling rose. Yeah I looked as LightwaveRF stuff, that can do hub-less master/slave but it all seems to be priced a little over...

    2-way switching existing light

I'm fairly certain the answer to this is no... because you wouldn't be able to wire the common, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any bright ideas. I've got an existing light which has a single switch cabled as a 2 core live/switched live. Is there a circuit possible which will add another...

    Electrical Connections for Electric UFH

On further inspection wet UFH doesn't look too complex - especially with the newer easy installation options there is no need for screed http://www.theunderfloorheatingstore.com/prowarm-25mm-floating-floor-panel I've got an ideal place to break into the existing feed/return for the CH loop...
