    Re-roof alternatives

Here's a photo of one of the tiles that was taken off last year when some vents were fitted. Brand is Scotcem You can see how rough the surface is. Just above this point is the line where the tile above it sat and the texture is nice and smooth.

    Re-roof alternatives

I'm not sure what type of tile they are to be honest. Marley something or other seems to ring a bell. Up close the weathered surface looks like aggregate rather than a nice smooth surface.

Thanks for the reply Ken. There seem to be loads of potential paints out there but it's figuring out, as you say, if it will work. I will keep this thread updated.

    Re-roof alternatives

Right. Crap situation here. Bought a 30 year old house a couple of years ago with a nice tiled roof. Thought to myself, tiled roof, no issues, happy days (see my old thread getting a conservation area slate roof re-done for my roofing woes). After buying I found out the roof tiles had been...

    WEDI Tray Drain Issue

I'll double check in the morning that it does effectively drain just through the middle. I didn't want to go sealing anything without checking I hadn't misunderstood the issue :-)

    WEDI Tray Drain Issue

Yes, the gap is around the entire trap. The plastic bit that fills with water is in 2 parts and they do screw together. It just looks like there should be some form of rubber seal or something around it. I have had many issues with the quality of the work done which is why I'm questioning it...

    WEDI Tray Drain Issue

Yes, the central but had water in it - I had just cleaned it when I took the photo. All that was on top of this was the metal grille. My understanding is the water would stop the smells from the drain, like a normal u-bend, but because there is space all around the plastic, the main pipe is...

Basically you want a cable from the BT router connected to the switch and then all other rooms also connected to the switch and you're done.

    WEDI Tray Drain Issue

Hi all, hope you can help. I had a new bathroom put in last year and the walk in shower has a WEDI Tray (that's what the builder called it). We frequently get a bad egg smell in that bathroom if the shower hasn't been used for a couple of days (it isn't the main bathroom) and the smell is...

    Unmarked Track Potholes

Sorry this took so long! Hard to really get a good idea from a photo but these are basically like big ripples which make the cars bounce all over the place because they are so randomly spaced

    Unmarked Track Potholes

No, it isn't tarmac. I will take a photo when I get home so you can see it.

    Unmarked Track Potholes

Is it as simple as that? Would it need compacted afterwards?

    Unmarked Track Potholes

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I share a track with 5 other houses which we are all responsible for. At some point it was resurfaced and had speed bumps put in. Over the years this has all worn/washed away and so the track is a gravely stony track, which in itself isn't an...

    Walking Away From Trade

Update, and likely the final one. All but the roof have now been fixed. As per my other thread, although the fan was replaced with a suitable one, it wasn't fitted correctly and clearly wasn't tested. One of the lives was in the neutral terminal. Not the safest of things. Sorted that myself...

    Walking Away From Trade

Perfectly possible. Time will tell I guess. If it happens again I will make more fuss. Also, the fan has been replaced (incorrectly but I've sorted it). Just waiting on the roof being done now.

    Fan Confusion

Just had another quick look and youre right, the grey neutral which followed through both switches was not in the neutral of the fan. Swapped it and one of the lives and it still turned off with the light. Swapped the lives round and it is now working as it should be. Thank you everyone.

    Fan Confusion

With regards to who did it, I'm not 100% sure. The fan is in an extension we had done last year, which has been the subject of a few threads on here. Long story short, outstanding issues on the build were getting ignored/fobbed off and so I had to send a letter stating the contractor had 14...
