    Dishwasher killing computer

The dishwasher has 2 EMI filters, one parallel and one inline to the load. Both checked out in capacitance, and the parallel one checked out in resistance as well. The silver cap/filter in the second pic doesn't come with an ohm spec. The dishwasher is in perfect health, although the rubber hose...

    Dishwasher killing computer

I have been unable to find evidence of any filter explosion. Physically, the filter looks in perfect shape. The filter connects (gold spade connectors) to the mains in parallel to the feed to the other bits. My guess on the location of the explosive pop could be wrong. I will have to check the...

    Dishwasher killing computer

Piece of junk apple monitor PSU was poor quality. I will replace it with a cheap china one. The other interfered USB hub was on a HP business grade monitor. Since no permanent damage was done, I suppose the quality on that was slightly better. My PC uses a china PSU. Nothing on it was affected...

Why are you obsessed with pages? A thread should be as long as it takes, but no longer.

It was already proven in a previous instance a blown up filter did not affect operation of the appliance.

    Dishwasher killing computer

I am in for more luck. I fixed the apple monitor using sellotape. The dishwasher severely wounded the circuitry for tuning on the monitor power supply. Masking out the circuitry allowed the power supply to work again. That saved me a tenner buying a china psu.

It doesn't. I had a thread demonstrating one crashed in less than 10 questions. But it can deal with the simple stuff.

    Dishwasher killing computer

Thank you for your attention in this matter - my trump impression. I appear to be in luck! AI Overview Yes, EMI filters are generally bidirectional, meaning they work in reverse to block noise flowing from the equipment back to the power line, protecting the grid, as well as blocking noise...

    Dishwasher killing computer

Why'sat? I literally caught it doing that red-handed, 2 hours ago. The previous POP and latest USB interruption occurred at the end of the wash cycle where the pump completed pumping and heater switching on for dish drying. I would expect a surge of power consumption by the dishwasher at that...

    Dishwasher killing computer

Recently, I had a loud pop in the kitchen in the direction of the washing machine and dishwasher. The dishwasher was in use, and the washing machine was plugged in but not powered on from the front panel. As I had previous experience of this kind of pop, I knew an EMI filter was blown. Although...

    Legit MS Office?

I could have gotten it for £7 if I didn't mind a little increased risk. But going with a seller having high proportion of positive views meant the chance for hassle was lower. It's the first time I bought office as I always had free access in the past. So, £13 per lifetime was not bad. If it...

    AC DC Adaptor fail

The battery is dead, long live the battery! The 063 battery died in the middle of being used as a winter portable charger. Analysis indicates it lost one cell and stuck at 10v. Charging it to 12v produces gassing which further proves 1 cell is dead. Ordinarily, there should be no gassing at...

    AC DC Adaptor fail

After prolonged simmering time in the head, the information I gained from this project finally clicked. I believe I have the solution for rejuvenating lead acid batteries. Brief testing appears to confirm this. Here are the relevant data forming the basis for the solution. DATA 1 Many battery...

    Legit MS Office?

I was a creature of habit, so said the manager I once worked for. I don't like change. Familiarity gives me a sense of comfort. Despite the increased spying activity, which I block where I can, I am happy with the new office and outlook - everything just looks and feels so familiar and works...

    Legit MS Office?

Now fully back in business! Information on the outlook-classic and hotmail (or any ms mail) combo are extremely inconsistent. But it turned out to be straightforward. Add any ms operated mail via "File > Info > Add Account". Then enter email, press "connect", follow by password and the rest is...

    Legit MS Office?

PST can be used for archiving. Anything I don't want stored on the internet, I just drag them into PST. I have stuff going way back when emails were delivered into PST. Rather than migrating stuff out of it I just manually put stuff into it on an ad hoc basis.

    Legit MS Office?

After much pondering, I decided to stick with outlook. There was no disruption after uninstalling the old version and installing OL 2021 + office. All my existing connection settings and PSTs worked without additional effort. I found no way to update-fix office 2016 retail click2run. It was...

    Legit MS Office?

I want outlook largely to avoid any learning curve. Then I can just plug in my existing .pst files. Another issue with a newer MS office is that it needs a microsoft account just to install. I am not keen on given them my personal info however trivial these might be. My main use for ms office is...

    Legit MS Office?

The seller has their own site selling the item for $99.99. So, it doesn't add up. I will try my luck with the bigger scammer instead: MS. Their outlook 2016 stopped connecting to hotmail because they wanted so. Strangely enough OL 2016 is not end of life until end of this month. That means they...
