    8mm microbore

Hi, I have an old imperial (approx) 1756 x 600 single with fins radiator which i plan on replacing for a type 21 radiator 1600 x 600 and using extensions to allow for the difference in pipework centres. My worry is that the 8mm microbore feeding the radiator is going to be too small to properly...

Hi, I am looking to install an alarm system in a new build bungalow. I can get cables to pir's/bellbox and remote keypads at front and back door. it is going to be awkward to wire to the door switches neatly without affecting decoration so was looking for recommendations for an alarm system...

3/4 inch to 8mm trv change

I am wondering if this would be a straight replacement. Im sure the inlet that accepts the 8mm pipe and fitting was stamped 1/2 " so with the correct head would this be suitable? I cannot see if its a 3/4 to 3/4, so if it was would i just use a reducer on the inlet? Thanks again

3/4 inch to 8mm trv change

Thanks Terry. I removed the head and the pin seems free, infact i could pull it out in my hand? I just thought if I could replace the valve it would rule it out. We had the trv off and with the head fully open we were struggling to blow tgrough it. The radiator is slightly heating but very...

Changing standard radiator to vertical. 10mm speedfit big enough?

Hi, Looking to change a large double radiator (1600 x 600) to a double vertical designer one which measures 1800 x 472 with a btu of 10333. Will this be a straight swap (obviously relocating the pipe centres) or does the additional height have an effect on the flow/heat? Thanks in advance for...

    Garage conversion insulation behind boiler

Thanks for the reply Freddie, I cut a piece of plasterboard away on the external wall today and was surprised to find some of the yellow insulation like you find in the loft behind the polythene which is behind the plasterboard. How would I know if this is insulated enough, Would I need to have...

Hi, I am looking to open up our timber frame wall between the lounge and dining room to fit glazed double doors and am looking for advice on how to proceed. swedoor external doorset

Hi, I have a swedoor external back door. When the door is closed it strikes the side jamb at the top. The height of the door looks perfect but I think the door needs pulled in towards the top hinge to make the gap between the door and the side jamb even. Can anyone say if the hinges on these...

Hi Joe, I came back to the house after being out this evening and the outside bell box was making a strange chirping noise. When I looked at the remote keypads the power light was flashing again. Scantronic 9448+ low battery????

Hi, My 9448 panels have the green power led flashing, don't think i've noticed that before. Does this mean that the battery needs changing, i've had it 4.5 years now so i'll change it anyway. I would just like to know for sure why the power led is flashing???? Thanks, Dale

    Bedroom extension over garage

Hi, I am thinking of having an extra bedroom/en suite built above our integral garage/utility room. Our house is a four years old 3 bedroom semi kit house (in Fife, Scotland) so with extending so early I think it should be easy to match the roughcasting/windows etc. The garage/utility and first...

    Marshalls heritage yorkstone flagstones pointing

Not sure about the base, but I know thet the slabs were "dabbed" at each corner. Some of the slabs have settled lower than others through time and a couple of the small ones have slight movement. To be honest if I had the money I would have the paving company that I used for my drive look at it...
