In need of a thermostatic mixer shower

Is it worth spending big bucks on one or is a simple (sub-100 quid) bar mixer from a shed just as good?

How to prepare this house wall?

Cheers. Never heard of it so I'll look it up. Scraping, pressure-washing or blasting, there's gonna be a hell of a lot of small white flecks of paint everywhere!

How to prepare this house wall?

One wall of a house is quite damaged by weathering. It LOOKS like its been painted over dirty surfaces in the past. WHat's the best way to proceed before painting it again? Do I have to scrape all that white off, seal the underneath and paint over, or is there an easier way (not another bodge!)...

Rendering outside of house using building sand

Where I came from in the Midlands, "everyone" used plastering sand to make a sand/cement wall render ie slightly gritty but not as gritty as sharp or washed or grit sand (so many names for the same thing!) Here in North Wales you cant get plastering sand - only bs or sharp. Merchants all say...

    Play in Sliding Mitre Saws

How much do you have to pay to get a slider that doesn't have a bit of bend or "play" when cutting wider pieces? ie when its sliding..... I have (or had , as its dying) a Bosch CM summat that, while fine for general work, is poor for very accurate work due to said play in the arm (ie its easy...

Bodges, scrimping and Friday afternoon jobs

Upstairs wall (the tall one in the stairwell) entirely made of an old shed.....stripped off the loose pb to reveal 2 T+G shed sides, loosely held in place by a couple of nails. They looked good enought to repurpose as well, a shed. Apparently the cottage had been a one storey hovel, and the...

    Bathroom Renovation

Great stuff. If it were me, now I've seen your tiles in the alcove, I'd probably not use a brick pattern on the sides....makes it look too busy. Great work, though.

i tend to flit between different games, rarely finishing one as I get bored after a while. Can someone describe the various options for membership, and which is better for someone like me who likes to try lots of games but for shorter periods. Thanks

    Identify shower cable

As an aside, in my experience of many showers in several houses I've owned, a 10kW shower is not much better than an 8.5....people always think they're going to get a powerful, very hot shower. You won't. So maybe you're wasting your time and money upgrading....? Just my 2p.

Drilling into stud wall - wires everywhere?!

These safe zones only tell you where NOT to drill.....they are no help whatsoever, IMHO, as people often ignore them and run cables anywhere they please, making the rules redundant.

    Repointing gable end wall

I'd be wary of using a grinder up a 3 tier ladder anyway....one catch and you're off.

What to cover lintel over windows?

Soon to fit new windows under new cavity lintels. Won't there be exposed metal in the reveal? I will be rendering the walls so I need something I can apply which might either be painted or rendered THEN painted. What's the normal way of proceeding?
