    Recommissioning Boiler

It is a monopoly and an increasing proportion of trades people today over value their time - seems quite prevalent in gas and electric, but thats a consequence of tieing peoples hands behind their backs when it comes to alternatives. Ill pay whatever a job costs when it seems fair.... but 750...

    Recommissioning Boiler

On terms of 'site conditions'.... its a empty domestic garage, brick and block cavity wall. Fused spur in place and gas pipe needs extending by about 80 cm to reach. Basically, it was laid out from the ground up with the boiler location being in mind. I cant imagine a much simpler job...

    Recommissioning Boiler

Which bit is against the regs? Obviously the gas pipe - hence getting a gse to do that. The flue is new and would also be left to an engineer. And if coring the hole for the flue has to he done by a gse, then ill leave that to them aswell.

    Recommissioning Boiler

Yeah.... I think ill do that then. Its finding someone willing to do a small quick job. The extension is going through the BCO so it needs doing above board

    Recommissioning Boiler

My boiler was fitted about 4 years ago. Its a Valliant Ecotec32 and was installed on the outside wall of my garage. I've demolished the garage now and a new one has been built. The flow, DHW and cold inlet pipes are all back in place and the gas pipe is about 1 meter away in 22mm. The pipes...

    Worth increasing pipe sizes

Understood. But it will be PEX to within a meter or so. Does that alter your opinion?

    Worth increasing pipe sizes

I'm running pipes to location for a new combi. The flow and return are 22, so ill run them in 22. The DHW and cold inlet are both 15 at boiler. Would there be any benefit in running up to the boiler in 22 then reducing to 15 at boiler? Or just run it in 15 all the way to the boiler.

    Does 'span' include the bearing

Pretty simple question. On a structural drawing, does the term span (in relation to an opening) include the bearing either side? A span of 2.2 m for example..... would that be 2.2 open or say 1.9m open with 15cm bearing each side.

    Unlooping supply

I've spoke to DNO and they have said that they will seperate the loop at their own expense, and run me a new supply from the road. When I explained the old crow next door is unlikely to cooperate, the chap said not to worry, we'll just disconnect her until she allows us in :) Economically...

    Unlooping supply

My property is currently fully excavated due to ongoing building works, so it would be very easy to lay a new cable from the road to a new outside meter box.

    Unlooping supply

So they probably won't have to dig up her drive then? If they can't just disconnect the loop in her cutout.

    Unlooping supply

Further to my recent post about moving my cut out, I have contacted my DNO about unlooping my supply for a car charger. The supply loops at my next door neighbours and then comes into my house. How much disruption would the DNO cause to my neighbour in the process of carrying out the work...

    Having DNO move incoming supply

If I keep it inside the garage, it won't be in a meter box..... would they just mount the cut out and meter on a board on the wall?

    Having DNO move incoming supply

Crazy that..... ill sound em out for a price on just shortening the cable to that new position. If its still a silly price..... ill see about having the loop removed and run a new cable to an outside meter box. Whichever is most economical really...... either way, ill have 25mm armoured ran...

What depth underground does the cable need to be

    Having DNO move incoming supply

As it happens... I am planning on a plug in hybrid car as my car was written off 2 weeks ago by someone who decided to use my boot as a parking spot. I hadn't even got as far as looking at a car charger..... but that might kill two birds with 1 stone. I wonder if they would shift it down the...
