Blanking off the radiator for re-decoration.

Hi folks, I'm re-decorating the living room and painting the walls with a lighter color. Looking to paint behind the radiator so wanted to take the radiator off. Another reason for taking it off is that I am tiling the floor and wanted to drill the holes in tiles rather than cutting triangles...

3 Color LED Downlights and Alexa with smart switch

Hi folks, Has anyone tried to setup a routine on Alexa to flick between the 3 colours on the LED Downlights? I have had the lights installed which work perfectly by toggling the light switch but I would like to use the smart switch to be able to do that on voice command. I was wondering if...

    Fire Alarm Ionisation or Optical

Hi folks, I currently have 670MBX ionisation smoke/fire mains alarms fitted in the living room. Currently painting the room and realised that I'm nearing the expiry date (Sep 2022) so thinking of installing a new one while I'm there. Question is Ionisation or Optic.. which one is better? I...

    LED driver fan

Cheers folks.. I was only going by the advice the given by the shop and wattage per meter calculation. The tape is stuck to the Metal Frame which should disperse the heat nicely. I have powered the led 10m one end and 7m on the other. It was the RGBW controller which complicated matters...

    Painting freshly skimmed ceiling

Hi folks, I have had the living room ceiling skimmed after it was lowered to add led lights. I have few questions: 1- what paint shall I use to apply the mist coat? 2- what ratio is recommended? 3- what roller shall I use for a smooth flat finish?

    LED driver fan

Hi folks, I have recently installed LED strip a on the ceiling.. I have used a 250W Led Driver (power supply) and fan is always on.. which is very annoying.. it will be under the plasterboard so assume it will be less noisy when it's all complete but should the fan always be on? Is it normal...

    Smart Switches for lights

Thanks @mcprinter .. this is super useful.. This means the switches don't remember the last sort of command, because: 1- before switching off the wall switch you had one cabinet off (via Alexa) and the other one was on. 2- upon switching on the wall switch you had both smart switches off...

    Smart Switches for lights

Ah ok, I will be using the Neutral fronm the existing light circuit. I have 2 options: 1- Use the switch live and neutral from the existing circuit (this would mean the power to the smart switches could be isolated e.g at night or when going on holiday) 2- Use the feed cable which is always on...

    Smart Switches for lights

Well spotted @EFLImpudence It's a typo.. I meant Earth.. The point about Neutral confused matters.. I just needed to understand the behaviour of a smart switch when powered thorough an existing light switch.

    Smart Switches for lights

Thanks @mcprinter .. if you ever turn off the switch on wall, when you turn on, do all lights come on or does it remember the last position? If the answer to that is yes, I can wire them to the existing switch, if not then best to wire them to unswitched feed

    Smart Switches for lights

That's very useful, cheers.. This is what I'm going to use: 3 downlights to one switch over the dining area and 6 over the living area with another switch on. Just want to check whether to wire it from the existing on and off switch? I'm suspecting when I switch it on, both dining and...
