    Garage electrics

I've already checked to see if the ring is a ring. I think putting a 13A FCU is a better way of doing it. The lighting is a 36w florry tube & he wants 2 sockets & was even talking about having an electric garage door opener. Would a 13A FCU still be ok to use.

    Garage electrics

Breaking into the downstairs ring in a house to add a socket & light in a garage. Ring is on an RCD in the house so just going to put a 2 way CU in the garage. Would I have to do a MWC or a EIC & would I just do the testing from the garage only or all the sockets in the house aswell. Cheers

    17th edition on existing circuits

Does the 17th edition only apply to new builds or modifications aswell ? Scenario 1 - A customer wants new lights in their bathroom & the switch moved. Would you just have to make sure the Supplementary bonding is present or involve the use of an RCD? Scenario 2 - A customer wants some new...

My mums got a ELCB (pic)

Thanks Spark123. I did a search after posting (should have done it before  ) & found some info about this. Apparently Wylex introduced them around 1974 & was basically an RCD. Cheers.

My mums got a ELCB (pic)

Noticed my mum has got a ELCB in the CU. From what I gather this is not a good thing. Its a Wylex, so should I be able to get a replacement RCD????. Its the main switch so should I replace it with a 30mA.

    Moving a CCTV monitor

Been asked to move just the CCTV monitor & controls from one office to another about 15 meters away. It will be plugged into another 230V socket but as far as the camera cables go, can I just extend them & what cable is used. Is it just coax? I'm assuming each camera will have its own cable...

    two way switching using T&E

I drew it upside down. The top picure is the downstairs switches & vice versa. I understand there needs to be a 2 way sw upstairs & the Black wire shouldnt have gone to the N of the light. The hallway was replastered & I'm guessing the switches were removed. Its strange that it had worked...

    Back from Ireland

I agree, the tiles were a bit out. We didnt take enough latex to even the floor up. Should have used about 20 bags & done the whole floor. Shouldnt stick out too much once the furniture is in. It has ended up a very nice traditional Irish holiday home.
