New fire and existing chimney> smoke test etc?

Cheers for replies, even though its in wrong section. firstly, what is an RGI? also scatman, i guess you mean a suitable airbrick, 10cm x 10cm? If so there is already a vent to outside from that room via an airbrick thats about 15cmx15cm. Cheers!

New fire and existing chimney> smoke test etc?

Hello all Basically are installing a hole in the wall type burner into the place where an existing gas fire used to be installed. (brick chimney) The fire isnt installed, just the aperture is there ready. What i`m unsure of is whether i need to get the chimney lined with a class 1...

Attaching fancy shower head to solid wall/ seems too heavy

Its not the ripping off of the pipe, its the moment thats induced on the fitting. The shower head is about 450mm long, and just me holding its weight by hand on the threaded bit is a struggle. I`m popping round to plumbers merchants to see what they have, i`ll go with a 3 screw fitting. I`m...

Attaching fancy shower head to solid wall/ seems too heavy

You dont by any chance have a pic of this munsen ring you mentioned? it seems about the only logical solution. I rang up the technical helpline, and got told a backplate elbow should be suffice for the weight (yeah right, i`m no builder but it it just doesnt seem like it will hold to me)

Attaching fancy shower head to solid wall/ seems too heavy

Cheers Chris, The wall backs onto the starirway/landing so i cant really get to the back of it. Looks like investing in a 3 screw backplate elbow, the larger the better really. One thing concerns me though, the thread length is approx 65mm long, if i sink that into a one brick thick...

Attaching fancy shower head to solid wall/ seems too heavy

Shower head is: Its going into a solid wall thats 1 brick thick. It was suggested that i use a 1/2 inch bsp backplate elbow, sink it into the existing wall to a desired depth, plug wall screw in elbow and then screw head in once tiled. Seems easy but back plateelbow i have only...

Waste conection for moved toilet: total beginner Sketch inc

Well i managed to do this! Infact once i had squared off the cast sections it was about a 600mm section that was missing. Hardest bit was cutting the soil pipe with angle grinder, whilst on top ladder. It all fitted together fine and poured some water down there to check. Its on the...

Waste conection for moved toilet: total beginner Sketch inc

I would say that its about a 1m section missing. I think its do-able based on what you are saying. Those are the cast to plastic couplers i have seen, i was unsure if they would work. I should be able to cut the cast pipes back so they are square, ready for the rubber connectors. I`m...

Waste conection for moved toilet: total beginner Sketch inc

Dammit, looks like having to replace the whole lot in plastic, which means removing the cast section (which goes through the roof) i wont do that as cast is bloody heavy, looks like shelling out some £££££, rubbish. I went ot all that effort to dust off my CAD skills to produce that master...

Waste conection for moved toilet: total beginner Sketch inc

Basically plumber did a runner, we have no toilet upstairs. The old toilet was demolished, and before the plumber left he cut the hole in the wall for the new waste. The waste pipe connection is outside as we did not want boxed in pipes in the room. If you take a look at my ten min cad...

    shower tiling and plumbing

It looks rather long, off the top of my head about 50mm, but i would have to check. I was thinking it might need chopping off a bit to get everything to sit flush, but thats maybe a bad idea. Thank you so much for help, really! just knowing what fitting uo use at the top makes things so...

    Shower Tiling- Tanking Required?

Hopefully this is a quick one, (I have searched) I am using porcelain 600x300 (ish mm) tiles with Bal rapid set on the walls. I have a quadrant shower tray and the wall tiles within the shower area will be onto solid masonary walls, so do i need to tank this area? Bal WP-1 etc? Its just the...
