Liquid PTFE or Compression radiator valve - or both?!

Just to check - when you say gas tape. PTFE tape but yellow used for gas :D? Guessing its thicker or something?

Liquid PTFE or Compression radiator valve - or both?!

Thanks guys - it was more to the fact (and yes there will always be a multitude of opinions) wrapping PTFE around the joint 20 odd times is a bodge? Also when I put liquid PTFE I mean (and its my fault) thread seal. Basically as said (and correct me if Im wrong) the issue is down to the...

Liquid PTFE or Compression radiator valve - or both?!

I guess what they mean is so its tightening as you screw it in rather than un-tightening. What if I was standing on my head whilst doing it then things get really confusing :)

Liquid PTFE or Compression radiator valve - or both?!

Hi guys, After some searching and Googling it seems Im not the only person who is or has had this issue. Fitting a tail into a radiator you can literally screw it all the way past the end of the rad given the tolerance of the tail and the thread in the valve they can be off slightly and weep...

Boiler coming on at night when not set to

Is the thermostat wired or wireless? We had exactly the same issue (different boiler) and it turned out to be the batteries in the thermostat. Although we didnt use cheap ones we needed to use very good ones which seemed to sort the problem (stopped turning itself on). So sounds strange but...

    PIV Systems or equivalent

Have you guys had all seasons running yours? Im just thinking from my perspective its more the winter that will be an issue (or currently is an issue) and the peace of mind something like this offers to get rid of any dampness. As said we don't suffer greatly its just in the corners of the rooms...

    PIV Systems or equivalent

Thanks for the info. I had someone come over and quote an install they also stated tge decibel count for the device they would reccomend (which was low) with that and the 300mm of insulation in the loft I dont think noise would be too much of an issue...

    Tiling onto block work

Hi guys We've got a small 2m x 2m en-suite which is made up or backer board and block work rendered with a scratch coat. Can I tile directly on to the block work? I'll be using sbr for the backer board so thats fine I just wanted to check for the other walls. Also is around 5 hours enough to...

    PIV Systems or equivalent

Hi guys, Just had a chat with someone about PIV systems as we get a lot of mould spots in the corners of the bungalow and above the little'uns bedroom window. We try to keep on top of ventilation but times of year (cold wet winters) and living in the South West with a lot of moisture in the air...

Curved flooring join - laminate to carpet

Hi guys, Looking to find some info on the best way to achieve a curved join between a laminate floor and carpet. I will be laying the laminate and hopefully we'll get someone in the lay the carpet. Ive seen those flexible joining strips which look ok - but I was wondering if anyone would be...

Advice please - gap between where the wall meets the floor?

Hi guys Haven't tiled for a while (just a diy'er) and I can't remember what sort of gap size you'd reccomend where the floor meets the wall? Also some suggest grouting the join and a clear silicone over the grout where others suggest a caulk. Whats best for these joints given potential...

TRV a bit close to the wall - any ideas please?

Ah I thought you were referring to the rad that does fit and work - yeah rad doesnt fit on that wall true. Will put it on the adjacent wall.

TRV a bit close to the wall - any ideas please?

Ive got one at my current house - seems to do the job as in the room is warm the room size is 5 meters by 4. Obviously its difficult to determine if its the rac thats doing the work or the insulation but that would be the same in any house.

TRV a bit close to the wall - any ideas please?

Yeah that's option B (and what the misses wanted anyway) but as Id already hung it I was looking for a get out of jail card. Nothing a bit of filler in the holes won't sort and probably better on that wall anyway
