Preparing for new turf - remove existing lawn or kill it ?

Another question. After rotavating, how much would you expect the lawn level to drop. The problem being my lawn will be level with my decking and I want it to be spot on. So how much higher will I need to put the lawn to let it settle to the decking level over time.

Preparing for new turf - remove existing lawn or kill it ?

I am not sure what you mean by "cultivate the existing turf" :) So am I correct in thinking that if I use Roundup to kill the existing grass and weeds, then rotavate and add any topsoil if necessary, the weedkiller will NOT effect the new turf. Is this right ?

Preparing for new turf - remove existing lawn or kill it ?

It's all in the title really. I am preparing for a new lawn in the back. The existing one is uneven and all different colours and patchy. I have done all of the decking to the height we require for the house etc. Now for the lawn. I understand all of the preparation etc. But the one...

    HSA3 problem.

Well I tested the control side of things and all was ok. I have then removed the fire and tested that the signal was getting to the gas valve and it is. I didn't really want to get this involved but the father in law is without heating and skint :x . Once again I went through all of the...

IT is a back boiler and before dismantling that I wanted to see if the actuator was the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    HSA3 problem.

Hi guys, any help would be greatly appreciated. My father-in-laws heating is not working. I hoped it would just be a stuck 3 way valve but no. I found the actuator stuck in manual. When put back in auto the problem persists. The motorised valve (HSA3) is operating. I haven't checked...

    Is This A ring Main?

From your description it does sound like a ring as long as the terminations meet up in the CU in the shed. From your description I wouldn't say it spares of to the shed, it just feeds the shed next on the ring. Is this ring fed from an RCD protected supply ? If not I would seriously...

    Maintenance free vs accessible

Coming across from industry this is a new problem to me. So if these "maintenance free" junction boxes are frowned upon, what is the alternative ? Say you want to spare off a ring under the floor boards and there will be NO access. Would you crimp, even though you will be putting 2...

Legality of Downlights btw Floors in victorian flat

I thought these distances where in relation to the lamp ie below the fitting. I also thought they came about as a responce to the Windsor Castle Fire which came from a lamp too close to a curtain. As for going to the LBCO - surely knocking on our neighbours door and speaking to them first is...

    Supply for Landing light ?

Here is another of my many boring questions ? :D I intend to wire up the hall and landing lights so both are 2 way switched. Would you take one supply for both ie say from the upstairs lighting supply. Or would it not be better to supply the hall light from the upsatirs supply and the...

    Difference between C&G 2330 and C&G 2382, 2377 etc e

HA106420 I understand where you are coming from but without the theoretical knowledge you will never be an electrician, it is fundamental to understanding what you're doing. I am not in a dis-similar position to you, I served my time in industry 13 years ago, went into the chemical side until...

    Difference between C&G 2330 and C&G 2382, 2377 etc e

2391 is obviously Inspection & Testing. Because so many people where failing the 2391 C&G designed 2392 as a stepping stone to 2391. So whats the difference ? The course is exactly the same, the info covered is exactly the same. The practical however is ONLY for a new installation so only...

Spark123 I am considering the possibility of doing this for others. I just want to understand what's involved first. I bought the adaption because it was there and I want to fully understand things before going further. The 3 tests I stated earlier, is this about it ? I assume there is...
