Power Supply Issue on a Commercial Premises.

Definitely 4.5kW - in fact, based on the plate, my calculations make it 4.7kW! Go direct to SSE rather than get an electrician to examine first?

Power Supply Issue on a Commercial Premises.

I'm going back up so I'll check in a bit. My thought was maybe if the fuse overheated, it might have loosened the connections, causing it to arc, causing the cable to heat up. Definitely a good strong electrical whiff though.

Power Supply Issue on a Commercial Premises.

Another question, I've just been looking around various other sites... Is it possible that the problem is the fuse in the cutout? Could it be a 63A fuse? In which case that would reduce the load capacity from 23kW to 15kW... I've clocked their current max load based on the numbers above -...

I'll tell them to get an electrician in and go from there, thank you.

Power Supply Issue on a Commercial Premises.

Thanks. Should we get an independent electrician to check this first, or just go straight to SSE?

My apologies... No, they all apart to be the same size.

Also a good point. Would any clamp meter do? I've been thinking about getting a cheap one from screwfix. But the earth leakage ones are out of my budget. Regarding the cutout, whose responsibility would that be? Tenants or SSE?

Power Supply Issue on a Commercial Premises.

Thank you for your replies. I don't know enough about cable sizes, but doing dinner quick maths, suggests a cable just under 6mm in diameter. I'd say that's about right. Other meter? They seem secure, just as they did previously. And while it's possible, I can't see engineers leaving a...

Power Supply Issue on a Commercial Premises.

Right, I would like to preface this with the fact that I am NOT a qualified electrician, and as such I will NOT be touching any of this myself. I'm already leaning towards telling them to get a qualified electrician to check their installation, although they supposedly had an inspection 2 years...

    Driveway Gate Posts

I am re-building my drive gates and I've hit a snag. Gate frames are built. But I forgot to offer up the hinge bracket to the post before starting work. I was going to use 47x100 bolted to the existing concrete posts to take the gate brackets, but they are 55mm wide DOH! Due to the width of...

Sealing between textured wall and light fitting...

Nope, Jon ;) And yes, planning to leave a drain gap. Just trying to blend it to the wall as best as possible.

Fixing some sort of GRP table

Thanks, the description of it being cement threw me.

Oh! No, the only rubber seal these have is at the cable entry point.

Fixing some sort of GRP table

Hmmmmm, not enamoured by some of the reviews. Also I'm not sure cement would give the best bond to in unknown GRP style material. Did you mean to post this in my other thread about filling a gap behind an exterior light?

    Replacing a concrete garage window

I did one of mine recently. Undid the plates holding the old window in. Measured up. Made a frame out of an equivalent thickness timber. Routed a 6mm channel in it to take the glass. Made a U frame, slotted the glass in then put the final bit of the frame on. Then put it in place and...

Fixing some sort of GRP table

My wife has purchased a molded mushroom table. The top attaches to the stem be means of a 1/4 turn screw fixing. However this has come out of the underside of the table. What would be the best method of re attaching? I'm thinking probably some form of epoxy, but should I also be looking to...

Sealing between textured wall and light fitting...

I'm mounting these lights from B&Q, and as you can see from the picture, there will be a gap between them and the wall due to texture. What would be the best product to fill this gap? Wire will be entering from the bottom of the light we it meets the wall, NOT through the wall.
