LABC reply at last !!! Also a question about wall lights.

Thanks RF. I'll nip along to one of the sheds & have a play with some of the switches to see what I think.

LABC reply at last !!! Also a question about wall lights.

Ah great ! I didn't even want to try it coz I just guessed that it wouldn't be to spec. I hate the look of separate connector blocks inside switches. That's why I suggested a double pole switch ( Read anal about neatness  ) Although I do see the reason for doing it this way, it would...

LABC reply at last !!! Also a question about wall lights.

Hi guys, finally received a reply from the LABC about the wiring changes I am going to be making. They say it will be approx four weeks after they receive my cheque for the princely sum of £150 - not too bad after all. Anyway, my question is this :- Our lass has decided that seeing as I'm...

    BT - Who To Call?

Don't I know it  All in the interests of safety of course :? It's always made me laugh that we've gotta wear our hard hats when up a pole - where's the risk of falling objects from ???? Aircraft ? Anyway, I digress, sparkymarky, have you had a quote from BT yet as to the...

    Whirlpool bath installation

I'm not a spark but in the instructions for my jacuzzi bath, it clearly states that the lead from the jacuzzi pump should be connected to an rcd via an ip65 junction box if needs be. I should imagine you will get some interesting replies from the guys on this one.

What have they done to insulation tape?

Keep it in your pocket ( i.e. warm ) & remember to stretch it when applying. The stuff we are getting at work atm is downright rubbish but still works if you follow them rules.

    Vet bill !!!!

I know this is gonna sound like the Monty python sketch with the yorkshiremen but........ Our rotty is now 10 yrs old, we got her when she was 3½ & in them years we've spent almost £17k at the vets  I must admit though that if she wasn't insured, I'm not sure if she would've still...

    BT master socket connection problems

What I understood from your original post was that you had mistakenly identified the wiring colours as a solid blue, solid orange, white with orange and white with blue. This would make a four-core cable but with that colour range has never been used. Are you sure that there is only one cable...

    BT master socket connection problems

If I read your post correctly, then the actual wires you want to be connecting to pins 2 and 5 of the master socket you have provided are as follows :- The actual blue and orange wires you speak of are actually blue with white rings and orange with white rings. As long as there are no other...

Thanks again guys, this is a great site. :)

    Bend Radii.

In the boiler instruction manual, it says that plastic is OK as long as it's at least a metre away from the flow/return outlets. The plastic I want to install will be 1.75M away. I'm going to use quality hepworths gear as well, so are you saying that the boiler instructions are pushing it to...

Oh great, thanks for that Kev, I'll have to see if the retailers have them in stock as well. Cheers

    Bend Radii.

Just dawned on me that I didn't get an answer to the title question :( maybe I should start new threads and not ask so many questions in one post  Anyway, I just measured the gap under the flooring and the radius of the bend would end up being 9½ inches. Would this be OK for 22mm hep2o...

Thanks very much wiggikins. Summat else for me to do this weekend then :( It never ends does it ?

    Bend Radii.

Hmmm, good call on the drain-offs, thanks, especially seeing as the new tees at the boiler may well have to be on the very last ( 4" or so ) vertical section of pipe. The boiler isn't a combi, it's just a normal heat only boiler, supplying radiators only, no DHW. Is there a problem with that ...

    Bonding question - sorry

Hehe - no chance of that Adam  It's just the water pipes I am replacing. I have already been informed from the guys on this site that boiler specific bonding isn't required, as the boiler is connected from the met onto the water pipe & the gas pipe. However, once I install the plastic pipe...

    Bend Radii.

Does anybody know what a "sensible" bend radius would be for 22mm Hep2o barrier pipe please ? I am having to reroute some CH pipe to clear a wall & after looking at all the different possibilities, I decided that it would be better to take the pipe directly down from the boiler, through the...

    Bonding question - sorry

I'm hopefully going to be rebuilding the stud wall that I removed that was the original meter position but I need to reroute the Feed and Return pipes from my CH Boiler to facilitate this. Now I know that there isn't any specific bonding to the boiler, seeing as the gas pipe is directly...

    Best plastic pipe for CH

It wasn't the fitting of it I was worried about. It's just that as you say, I'm a diy'er & a lot of the guys on here use this stuff day in, day out, so I will always ask for advice on the best product based on their experience.
